We wanted high back rockers for our deck to watch the sunset on summer nights and these are very lovely and comfortable once together. Putting them together is more difficult than it needs to be because of the way the wood pieces fit together. It is challenging to get some pegs into the holes before securing with the screws. On one of our chairs, the arm does not fit totally into the whole so we can see part of the peg. I'm using that one since I don't rest heavily on armrests with hopes that it will not break. Other than that one issue, the chairs seem pretty solid, and we prefer real wood to some of the synthetics that they have today so these fit the bill. The high back is nice, the curve of the seat is comfortable, and the cushions from our table and chairs fit these as well.

Bought 2. Had some difficulty putting both together due to holes not lining up. Make sure that you don't tighten the bolts until after the chair is completely put together. This is all it took to get the alignment correct. It is very helpful to have a second person. The finish seems as though it will hold up to the weather and they are very sturdy. Shipping was quick.

Beautiful, comfortable rocker that looks much more expensive than what I paid. I saw one for sale at a shop yesterday and it was almost 3x more expensive. It is time consuming to assemble but not really difficult, and the final product is worth the effort.

      Option: White

First: The finished rocker is a real beauty! The fit and finish are more than acceptable; it's comfortable and, so far, no squeaks! However, assembly can be problematic; not hard mind you, but the instructions can lead to dead ends. Before beginning assembly have a 5/32" allen wrench socket! If you have a ratchet, the allen bit is a couple of bucks at your local hardware store. The allen wrench provided will cause you to invent new swear words. There are only 8 bolts that require this, but they are critical. Regardless of the instructions, these 8 bolts should be the LAST thing you tighten as the installation of the stretchers and the rockers require that the front and back be somewhat moveable. Take care not to over drive provided wood screws as they can penetrate the finished surfaces if screwed too far. Take your time, think ahead, you're not going to beat it for the money!

I got this chair in white. It was kind of hard to put together and I have done beds, TV stands, book cases and lots more. For some reason, I messed this up a few times ... I was accused of not reading the directions. First off ... I didn't even realize I would HAVE to put it together but, of course, nothing comes complete for less than $500 anymore. So be aware that comes to you in pieces and that there is ONE short bolt and the side runners are TWO different sizes and things will go better for you. It is a very nice looking chair in the end although it could use a back cushion ... back to Overstock!

the chair pars do not all fit together. mounting the back and legs was not bad except that one of the 8 required screws simply would not go in and then would not come out. the next step was to put on the rails and this required heroic strength and although I got the screws through the rails into the legs, they were not properly fitting into the holes. I they wen to put on the arms and they were 3/4 of an inch too long--so if the dowel goes into the base in the front, it is 3/4 of an inch too long to fit the dowel on the arm into the hole on the rear rail. Fortunately, I have some carpentry skills so I cut off the dowel and 3/4 of an inch and drilled into the end of the arm to put in another dowel. I will return the other 5 chairs!!

I ordered 2 of these chairs, one came complete, I assembled it quickly and only trouble I ran into was getting the philips head screws in at the horizontal members between the legs labeled "D" per instructions, the space was tight and hard to tighten but doable. I had first chair assembled in 20 minutes, I thought to self "The next one will take 10 minutes now that I got this down", but NOOOOO!! Unfortunately, the other chair was missing its hardware completely. I called the number on the instructions and got an automated system, aka voicemail, I left my name, address, phone number, item #, and item description, then I explained what I was missing. You get no confirmation code and in my opinion no relief of the worry that you may have a couple peices of white wood (insert your color here if you feel same way) sitting in your home that may never serve a purpose. Would be nicer if they had a website with email confirmation and maybe a tracking system so I know when I might receive the rest of my order, which in my opinion is incomplete still. I'm upset cause rocking chairs aren't inexpensive, although this one is priced nicely, and I feel I bought a pile of sticks. I'll update when I get the rest of my order, sorry I didn't comment on chair that was actually constructed, its hard to focus on into because I bought it as a pair in my mind and now its a lonely rocker on my porch, I guess my wife can sit and I'll stand. Update: 9/2/2016 10:30AM The company called the next day, confirmed my information, and are mailing my hardware USPS from North Carolina. A smile has returned to my face and frustration slowly trickles off me. The woman on the phone from the company was exceptionally nice also. I knocked one star off because of my first night of sadness, if the chairs grow on me I'll add the 5th star back.

Plain and simple, Poor Quality and or Poor Packaging. Was excited to put this piece together this evening as I purchased it a few months ago for my porch. Two very visible cracks that can't be hidden. Unfortunately, the only way to save it is to have repaired and restain. Don't Buy One! I would've returned it if the box had not already been put out to recycle.

My handyman put two of these rockets together for me. He told me they might last a year. Not much quality here. Certainly don't leave these outside when it's raining.

The finished product looks quite nice. However, the predrilled holes do not all line up. Not all pieces cut to the same length. Be aware, it advises that this rocker be in a protected area. It is not intended to withstand rain, etc.

My chair is holding up very well, but one of the slats in the back of my husband's chair has cracked. I would recommend you spend a little more money and purchase a nicer rocking chair over this one, but I will say assembly was very easy and all the holes lined up correct. Didn't take very long at all to put together. In my photo you can see the twine I used to patch up my husband's rocker. So far the twine is holding it together as I don't think wood glue would help.

    • Q:

"How difficult are these to put together? What tools are required?"

      • A:

Great chair for the money. As others have stated, DO NOT tighten any of the fasteners until you have it assembled. An electric drill with screwdriver bits is recommended. Also, the chintzy Allen wrench supplied with the rocker is not capable of tightening the fasteners. Go to your nearest hardware store and purchase a set of socket drive Allen wrenches. They are not expensive, but I promise you, without them you will soon be using the chair parts for kindling! I have had this rocker for about a year. It is sturdy and comfortable, just pay attention as you assemble it. (I took a photo of the Allen wrench set, but it will not allow me to paste it with this answer.)

    • Q:

"Can this chair be out in the rain or does it need to be under a covered area?"

      • A:

Although it is painted well, it is made of wood. I have mine on the front porch, which has an overhang. Rocker partly out in the open, but mostly covered. It still looks very good after 2 years.. I think leaving it totally in the open would definitely have it wear pretty quickly.

    • Q:

"what is the back height of this chair? (seat to top). Essentially - would a 5'9'' person be able to rest the back of their head?"

      • A:

Yes, husband and son are 6' and are comfortable

      • A:

My wife is 5'9" and fits fine when sitting

      • A:

It is about 31-1/2" from the middle of the seat to the top of the back of the chair. I am 5'6" and my head does rest on the back of the chair comfortably with the tippy top of my head only slightly above the back of the seat.

    • Q:

      "Weight limit"

      • A:

Bought two as gifts which were delivered to my children who live in a different state. When I finally saw them, I was very pleased. They are quite substantial and look great especially in red.

      • A:

I found the weight limit on a different site. I do not remember which, but I know it was over 200 lbs. because my husband is 210. Also for extra strength even if he never sait in them he also glued along with screws.

    • Q:

"It states in details that the seat is coated in polyurethane . What about the rest of rocker?"

      • A:

Entire rocker is coated. A superior rocker for any price.
