  • Surprising!
    Verified Purchase

First, the picture is misleading. The color is not your traditional red brown cherry. Think CHOCOLATE! Even the padded fabric is darker, also more of a chocolate. I was surprised by how quickly it arrived. I ordered Monday afternoon and it was delivered Friday morning. I thought the headboard would be one solid piece. But it's actually a three pieces: Headboard and two legs. Which is understandable given that it has to be shipped. Once out of the box it is fairly simple to put together. Your average guy with the right tools can have it up and ready for bed within an hour. It seems pretty sturdy. But as everyone else has mentioned the slats seem a little flimsy for a king size bed. I was able to use the metal powerlift slats from my previous bed to provide added support. The bed is definitely not a platform bed. It needs a box spring, or a bunky board. A full size box spring will seem a bit high, but still very acceptable. A low profile box spring or bunky board will give you the appearance you see in the picture. Finally, I'd say be careful of the footboard corners. They seem to stick out just a slight bit too far. I banged my knee three times the first day I had it up. Even with all the surprises, I'd still order it again. Great bed for the money.

  • Corners tough on knees, insufficient slats
    Verified Purchase

The bed frame is nice overall, the design is contemporary and it feels kinds fancy with that headboard. But you can't really lean against that headboard if you wanna read, you feel it leaning backward, it's not attached firmly. The frame only has five slats, with a supporting leg in the middle of each one. That is not enough to support a mattress, you need box springs or boards. We got regular boxes at first, but the mattress ended up too high, so we replaced them with low profile, which made the height better. The worst part is the corners. They stick out about 2", which has almost broken my knee after just a few weeks of use. When getting up in the dark, and walking close to the bed to find my way, I banged my knee into that projecting part, ouch !.. It's better to have flush corners, even rounded if possible. The bed frame comes in two separate cartons, assembly is easy. Overall it's a fair value for the price.

  • Good product

If you like modern this is a great bed. Shipping was great, easy to put together. One person recommended getting extra slacks to hold the bed since the five sent did not look sufficient to hold a king. We got the extra slates and I would recommend doing so, very inexpensive. Overall not a bad product. Do I expect it to last 20 yrs? No but a good 5-7 is good considering the price.

  • Needs Boxsprings, Espresso-Looking Color
    Verified Purchase

The bed looked much lighter online than in actuality. It's more of an espresso color. I read the question from someone, asking if a boxspring was needed. The customer service rep replied that it go either way because of the slats. Our mattress is 10" thick, and if we didn't have boxsprings, the mattress would come way below the cushioned part on the headboard. Very dumb-looking! We got low-profile box springs and they work perfectly. Our 5" boxsprings and 10" mattress puts the top of the mattress right at the bottom of the cushioned part on the headboard. Regular boxsprings would probably work, but I thought it'd look too high. I love the low footboard on this bed! The headboard is very heavy and will stand flush against your wall. Nice cushion, too. Bed seems sturdy, but we had to cut more slats. The five provided for a king bed just aren't enough. The slats for the king have little pieced that go down to the floor for support. Shipping was fast, but the boxes used for the product are junk and tore up. Fortunately, none of the bed was damaged. I'm happy with our purchase.
