I ordered this curtain rod despite reviews concerning the rod's tendency to sag because this is the look I wanted for my front window. I like the look of curtains on a window but at the same time like openness and ability to see outside. My rods hold 2 panels of sheers and hold up well ( just a tiny bit of sagging but not very discernible). Each of my rods extends 21 inches.
Overall happy with the design and look. Something to keep in mind when installing: I used a level to install the base to the wall, thinking that would level out the rod. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. The rod droops almost a quarter of an inch after inserted into the base. I had to screw the base again into the wall, leaving 4 holes from the first attempt. The best way to install is to insert the rod into the base and let it droop naturally. Then use the level over the rod to get it balanced. Don't let it sit directly on the rod or it will add weight to the rod. The base will be turned almost an 1/8 of an inch. Once you have the rod leveled out, turn the base clockwise to allow for the weight of the drape. This will throw off your level but it will help compensate for the weight of the drape once you put it on there. My panel is lightweight so I turned it just a little, A heavier drape add more weight to the rod so turn the base more. Add the drape if you can then use the level. It will be tricky so a second person will help. Mark the holes and drill the base into place. The bottom screw cap can be tricky to turn into place as well. The threads don't line up very easily. It will take some patience.
I purchased these to use in my guest bathrooms with curtains instead of shower curtains. They make my bathrooms look like model home. I am so so happy with my purchase and would recommend it/them to anyone.
I searched high and low on the internet to find a swing arm adjustable curtain rod for my bathroom window. I was unsure when I ordered and was pleasantly surprised when I received the item so promptly.... This is a very high high quality curtain rod and I will be ordering another for my French doors!
This worked well for my french doors. My only suggestion when you hang is to put a little angle on it so they angle up a little. Once you hang the curtain they will sag a little from the weight so to counter that - hang them with a little angle up to make them level. Other than that - worked perfectly and got a lot of compliments
This was a great find. I have styled my dining room with a Tuscan flair. I have beautiful up/down wood blinds and didn't need full drapes. So I ordered my drape fabric from Vogue's and will use these swing arms for drapes on each side of my three windows which sit in a cluster on one wall. If I want to open the windows I can easily swing the drapery arms away from the window to allow full flow of air through the open windows without the drapes getting in the way. Wonderful product!
I was looking for a swing arm curtain rod to use around a corner shower. This product was great because many of the other rods I looked at started at 19 inches, which was too big for what I needed. This product worked well, installed easily, and looks great.
I had been looking in stores and online for a swing arm adjustable curtain rod less than 20 inches and could not find one until I check with Overstock.com. It was out of stock but I was notified when it came in (very soon). I ordered it and am very pleased.
The set of 14"-28" pewter swing arm curtain rods (hard to find in this size) are very high quality with a beautiful finish. The selection of finishes is great and the pewter color was right on. They were easy to install ad work perfectly. I would highly recommend this product.
These swing arm rods are being used as a "door" for a closet with an oddly shaped door. They could not have worked better.
I absolutely LOVE the swing arm curtain rods. They are great quality and look wonderful. I have them over my sliders and it makes the sliders look so much larger when they are open. Totally an optical illusion but definitely a good one. The only problem I have (and it could just be me putting them together) is that the arm does not match directly up with the molding. when I close the, I have to lift the rod up just a 1/2 inch or so to sit it on top of the molding. I am just very picky so that is what I do.
Love these swing arm curtain rods. Make a room look more fancy.
I love that these could be extended however curtains were too heavy for the rod when it was extended to the full length of 24 inches. Had to support the end of the rod with clear nylon wire or fish line which worked and no one can see it. Needs to have a wooden dowel or small metal rod inserted into the shaft of the curtain rod to stabilize it better. I used a wooden dowel and the clear fish line which is suspended from the metal frame of the drop ceiling. Make sure that rod is attached to the wall correctly also. The rod should come from the top not from the bottom for added stability.
The swing arm curtain rod was just what I was looking for. I liked that it was extendable and allowed me to customize the length. It was easy to install and I did not need the instructions to do so.
These swing arms are sturdy and can manage a heavier curtain without sagging. I originally ordered them for a short, lightweight curtain, on a low cabinet, but they were more than was needed for that - so I switched them to a tall wardrobe that had lost it's doors, and I was able to hang a heavier brocade curtain on them. They were easy to install, and fold out without getting stuck. The one addition I would make is a string or rod for pulling the if the installation is high to reach.
These are perfect for my dining room. I have very high ceilings and my curtains are super long and they support the weight of the curtain very well. I would recommend these curtain rods for anywhere in your house.
I did not want curtains to cover my entire set of morning room windows, so I chose to hand these on each end with a patterned curtain. For this purpose, they are great. A large rod and tons of fabric would have just overpowered my morning room. But I bought very high-quality curtains on Overstock, and they cause the rods to pop out a bit. We did hang them at a tiny angle to account for the weight, but the rods aren't quite deep enough to account for the gathered depth of the curtain. Still...it's a good fit, and they were worth the cost.
Love these swing out rods. Makes a window look finished.
This is a style that was used years ago and then abandoned but I don't know why. You can put the curtains on the rod easily, and then just swing the rod in or out for privacy. This is for a narrow window.
Needed to hang curtain in a narrow space and wanted to leave a substantial part of the window open. I hung these over plantation shutters and they are perfect because you can swing the curtain out of the way if you want to open the shutters. The curtains I hung have grommet tops and are not real light.. The swing arm is sturdy enough to hold them securely...use all 4 screws...and looks very stylish.
