We bought four of the Small Triangle Sail Sun Shades to use as a replacement for the canvas top on our 10’ x 10’ pergola. The pergola is a metal frame unit, purchased at a local lumberyard, last year. The canvas cover that that came with the unit shows deterioration by the sun, and significant wind damage. We planned to purchase a replacement top, but none will be available until August, when season is winding down. The Small Triangle Sail Sun Shades required a little extra modification, as a 10’ x 10’ square is a little small for four Small Triangle Sail Sun Shades. At this time, the Small Triangle Sail Sun Shades are holding up fine in the sun and relentless Nebraska winds. We will repurchase the Small Triangle Sail Sun Shades, if, and when replacements are required.
This is the 3rd one we've bought. The other two we put up in Southern Florida every summer and just needed an additional one for in between. We've had the other two for 4 years and they still look great. Sun faded on the top, but the bottom (that you can see) still looks brand new. Love these. Great value.
Came as a pre-packaged roll of Coolaroo shade cloth, rated Medium. On the package, it describes Medium as 64% to 70% cover factor. Like all standard shade cloth, it is a knitted mesh, not woven fabric, but it is supposed to resist tearing and unraveling. Being just a package of cloth, the ends are unfinished. I am planning to build a little pergola this spring and cut and sew this fabric to fit the top, to shade some southwest-facing windows. The pergola can stay up year-round, but I can take the shade cloth down to let more light through in the winter.
