I drink hot chocolate every morning. I previously used the Mr Coffee Hot Chocolate Maker but switched to this one for the froth feature. This is the third one I have purchased in just over two years. The first two started leaking where the pitcher attaches to the base in less than a year. I love this brand but if this one starts leaking I am giving up and going back to my Mr Coffee.
This is an easy machine to make at home frozen drinks. It pretty much comes assembled and all you need is crushed ice, water and salt ( for the seperate compartment) and your beverage. It makes a slushy in about 8-10 minutes. It is a little loud want to time but not aggravating.
I bought this fountain for my wife's birthday party and it was a hit! We heated up 1 cup of heavy cream (to a simmer) in a double boiler and added 24 oz of chocolate chips. The consistency was perfect for the fountain and the guests loved it. Much cheaper than renting one and now we can use it more that once. Clean up was as easy as can be expected for molten chocolate. Note that the instructions say to let it warm up for 3-5 minutes before pouring in the melted chocolate, but I think we should've waited 10 minutes so it was fully warm. It seems to loosen up the longer it was on. All told...great result for not much money at all.
In 20 years of marriage this is the best present my husband has ever bought me. It is used 3-4 times every day and never lets us down. The only drawback is that you can't make more than 28 ounces or so at a time but it only takes 10-15 minutes per cycle so it isn't too long to wait before your turn. It has gotten heavy usage and not a single problem. I would say though that you need to make sure to drain and clean the ice section of the unit after each use as the ice and salt can be caustic when it comes to wearing out the protective coating inside it. I haven't had any rusting from the times I've forgotten to until the following morning though.
