Yhis works great for fresh snow. Dont wait for the snow to get warm or packed down. It will scrape the pavement well. It is battery powered and it seems to last a long time. Power cord is a nice backup option but i haye the cords. Battery charged quickly and the led lights are bright. Lightweight and easy to move around.
I've only had a chance to use the unit once. We had some fluffy snow recently, about 4-6 inches worth. I have a small driveway, can fit about 4 cars on it. I waited until the city was down plowing the main street so the end of the driveway had 8-10 inches of heavier snow piled up. NOT REALLY A CON I put the batteries in the blower and fired it up in the house to make sure everything looked good. I left the unit on and it depleated the batteries. It seems sitting there doing nothing it still consumes power, I believe the blue lights around the base of the unit are to blame (didn't notice them originally). The tires easily mark up linoleum flooring when brand new. I bring the blower in/out at the end/start of the season, so the wife will be yelling at me =) CONS The two batteries in the supplied charger take 4-5 hours to charge at least. I burned through the batteries in about 40-50 minutes. Another pair of batteries would be $280 or more, which puts this snow blower in the price range of a 30" gas powered blower. My expectation is that I have a rather small driveway and this thing would be overkill and cover my driveway on one set of batteries. Technically I achieved that, but just barely and only because I had a car parked in the driveway which kept me from having to clear ~1/4 of my driveway. The chute adjustment switch is recessed into the handle and covered by a membrane. I found it hard to depress easily with thin gloves on and even without gloves. The chute takes a couple seconds before it moves and even then a little slow. A manual chute adjustment would've been better than this implementation. It jammed/stalled quite a few times. Prior to this I had a 15amp corded, single stage blower and I didn't push this thing any harder than I would've that one. I expected I would've been able to push through the snow a lot faster with this two stage blower, but didn't find that to be the case. More the issue is I found pushing down on the levers with gloves to be a bit tiresome for the hands (I have large hands and the handles are a bit small for my taste). Everytime it jams, you have to let go of the auger handle, depress the slightly flimsy button and push the lever again. The button is on the cheap side, definitely doesn't match the quality of the rest of the unit. PROS Rather quiet unit and as I get home later or do my blowing later in the evening, neighbors hate me a lot less. The lights are plenty bright, no complaints. The unit isn't massive as I expected it to be, it is rather compact for the power and output it delivers on. Build quality of the important parts seems top notch. I won't say it's the heaviest duty unit I've seen, but everything from the wheels forward seems built to last, at the very least you're getting your money's worth there. The handle setup is decently robust, though not as heavy duty as the rest. I'll do my best to update the review as I use the unit more.
