I've been using a no-frills slow cooker and decided to upgrade to save time and clean-up. Love that you can do it all in one pot--brown the meat, saute veggies prior to setting for slow cooking. Set the timer and it automatically keeps food on warm until you're ready to eat. The 6-quart is perfect size for everyday cooking. Very nice looking, solid machine with non-stick cooking pot and glass lid. I'm sure I will use it constantly in the winter months.
We surely are enjoying our new Cuisinart MSC-600. The style of the product is excellent. We love that we can sear our beef, de-glaze with wine, and cook our pot roast dinner all in the same pot. This product produces excellent meals and offers a variety of temperature settings. You will need to be careful with the non-stick surface, as it seems to mar easily. All-in-all, this multi-cooker is a pleasure to use and is appealing to display on the counter in a stainless-steel kitchen. Recommended!
Rice cooker, pressure cooker, and slow cooker all in one! And they all work just as I'd expect. Be very careful releasing the steam valve. I use the end of a wooden spoon that has a hanging loop to hook around the tab and pull from a safe distance. Don't put under a cabinet, there will be a LOT of steam. Cleanup of the non-stick inner bowl is very simple, but take care not to scratch it. Stick to wooden and plastic utensils and never put it in the dishwasher.
I have another regular pressure cooker but since my brother-in-law went to the burn unit with a pressure cooker accident, I have been reluctant to use the manual one. I originally saw this device on "Chef Brad: and I loved the safety feature and the fact that the insert comes out to clean it. I wish I had purchased this first instead of the other multi-cooker from the TV shopping program. This is so much better made. I use this thing so much, I bought the steamer basket and another insert so I always have a clean pot in case I want to make veggies to go with the main dish. I love this thing for veggies (2 minutes and they are done consistently). I also taped the cooking times inside of my cupboard so I don't have to hunt for the manual all the time. What I love best in this thing is steaming the veggies for corned beef and cabbage. I use beer and the salty taste of the corned beef can be pressured into the potatoes by the device. I don't have to have them swimming around and over cooking in the same pot with the brisket. It also lets me better time the whole dinner. The insert is very heavy duty compared to the one I got for the other device. I will have to look for a stainless steel insert because I would like to use the beaters in this thing and the insert is non-stick.. Right now I mash with a plastic masher.I also bought a stainless steamer basket and love that too. I give this as a wedding gift for the young girls who don't yet venture to cook because of the time. This cuts it down and makes cooking more fun. I found that putting the cooker on high pressure without putting the lid on, allows me to sauté for chili. or soups That was a great discovery. While it is not as large as a normal slow cooker as far as fitting meat in there, its versatility more than makes up for it. It never gets put away because I always have the next meal in mind. Truth be told, I have both the slow cooker and this device out all the time on the buffet because I use both of them so much. The only improvement I can think of is it would be nice to have a detachable cord like the ********* **** multi-cooker has and it would be nice to have a plastic steamer basket included with the product.
