  • This bed is fantastic!

This bed is solid wood and is very heavy. The packaging arrived a bit scuffed up but the bed itself was so well packaged with styrofoam that there was no damage. It comes in 3 packages - one is the headboard, one is the footboard and legs, and one is the rails and slats. The 3 slats are unfinished but offer plenty of support. It was very simple to put together - the only tool needed was the included allen wrench. There are screws included (I think to screw in the support slats) but I didn't use them. It came with a set of instructions in each box (the same paper, presumably so you don't lose it!). The instructions are in picture format. However, because the bed is so heavy (the headboard is about 60 pounds alone) you definitely need a second person to help lift pieces into place. All in all, it only took about an hour to unwrap, set up, and clean up. The finish on the wood is a beautiful cherry color - almost exactly like the color shown in the picture. The shattered glass inlays are beautiful and solid. After a week of sleeping on it, I can say it supports my mattress very well and does not move or creak. You definitely need a box spring however. With the box spring and my pillow top mattress, the bed rises about 6-8 inches over the footboard, not flush like shown in the picture.

  • Sierra Platform Bed
    Verified Purchase

This is a beautiful bed although it is not a true platform bed. Besides from UPS dropping the box with the slats cracking one of them the bed arrived with only a minor chip nothing major here and there. It is very heavy wood and very sturdy. I tried to put the bed together without a box spring but the mattress sunk in between the spaces of the slats. SO YOU DO NEED A BOX SPRING WITH THIS PLATFORM BED!!! It is beautiful and unique and I am waiting for Overstock to replace the slat that was cracked to prevent the bed from splitting. Just a word of caution. This is the first product I pruchased without reviews which is why I usually don't. Very easy to put together practically in one hour. It is a bit pricey especially if there will be problems down the line. I hope not.
