Let me start by saying that I am not a professional, but I would estimate that I am above average when it comes to handiness around house. This shower looks really good, but it is a pain and a half to install. The directions are OK, but you will need to do a little guess work/assuming. First, when installing you must make sure that everything is plumb/level. Like, not just the bubble is inside the lines level, but you had NIST come in and use your shower for the standard of what level is. There is almost now adjustment built into the hardware (aside from some wide manufacturing tolerances). For this reason I probably would only recommend it for new construction. If doing a remodel be extra sure that you walls and floor are perfect. Second, if you use the dimensions in the instructions for where to install the bottom track to the pan, you will have a hard time getting the door to close. It will be too tight. Third, speaking of the door. The way it seals mean that everything must line up just right. Think butt seam instead of an overlap like a lot of showers have. Forth, this is definitely a two person job. You have to setup all the panels to mark where to drill the holes and putting the door one by yourself is a bear. I'm guessing it weighs 70 pounds (which is some cause for concern. That is a lot of weight cantilevered off of two hinges held in place by friction). Plus, make sure you get the hinges level (the axis of rotation is plumb), otherwise the door won't close properly. All in all I think there are some better options out there, especially when you consider the price. It does look good, but I would think that for almost ******* you'd get something a little higher quality and a lot easier to setup.
I tired of replacing standard shower doors every few years and repairing rollers and tightening screws throughout their use. This product is top of the line and feels luxurious. They look and feel as though they will last decades! Last ones I'm installing!
Purchased the Pirouette shower doors to replace old sliding shower doors in a newly purchased home. The old doors made us duck under, the frame-less design is very easy to live with. Glass thickness is much better than you normally find. The hardware is all well/nicely made, and the design allows for the unit to be fitted perfectly in a non standard sized opening. A real plus for our bathroom look and function.
