The rug is advertised as black but in fact is a deep dark blue. Also, the "metallic" threads are really not metallic but a fiber which is silvery/shiny. These are the least problems. The rug has irregularly woven pattern, which are weaving flaws and they are throughout the rug. In other words, this is a quality-control-reject rug but it is not described as "Second" or "with weaving flaws." This rug was listed for 77% off, so it is a cheap product for a cheap price. Very disappointing.

  • Great rug
    Verified Purchase

This rug looks just like the picture. Its mostly cotton, so it feels great underfoot, especially with some carpet pad underneath. The rug seems to be pretty well made, and it works well with my mid-century-ish furnishings. Kind of a tribal vibe too.

  • might have been nice, if I received the correct ru

Received the wrong rug and when I called to return they tried to charge me to ship it back to them. After arguing that it was their fault they covered the shipping cost but then only issued you me a partial refund, half of what I paid for it?! So then I had to call again and remind them that it was the wrong rug they sent me before the would credit me the other half of my money back. Bad service, will not buy from Overstock again.

  • Modern Looking rug
    Verified Purchase

I was very happy with this rug, it fits wonderfully into my modern home. It is not a soft or a plush rug, but it is comfortable on bare feet and is very durable. It is weaved fibers with a black and silvery white modern design. It lays flat. I would also feel comfortable using this product in a covered, outdoor area as well. Excellent quality for the price. It took about a week to ship from New York to California with standard shipping.

  • The right rug for me!
    Verified Purchase

I spent a long time looking for a rug that would match the colors in my living room, but not be a solid rug that meant everything in the room had to be black, red, or beige. This rug adds visual interest with the pattern so it's not too (as my friend says) "matchy-matchy." It is a pretty thin rug, so plan on buying the premium rug pad to go with it. You won't be sorry. The rug pad will keep this from sliding or buckling. And you won't have to trim it if you buy the 7'9" version. The pattern is woven in with threads of cream-colored, slightly metallic threads. A couple of the threads came up after a few vacuumings, but it is barely noticeable. I may trim them off with a pair of scissors later on, if I decide it bothers me. It is woven like a mat, not tufted. The rug is produced by a high quality rug company; I was surprised by the brand when I received my shipment, which arrived, by the way, in record time. The pattern is a little funky, a little tribal even, and I really, really like it. You could really go several ways with this rug. I have a lot of Mexican accents in my living room and this compliments them. It could also be in a clean, modern room (think West Elm), or something with an African flavor. It looks natural and organic (although I'm pretty sure it's not). This was the perfect rug for my living room. It did give off a chemical odor for a couple of days, but I was prepared for that by the other reviews. I don't smell it anymore now and it's been a month or so. The price is very good for a rug this size by this company. I'm glad I bought it instead of the more traditional rugs I was considering.

This is an interesting rug if you want COTTON, not wool, and WOVEN, not tufted. The "special polyester threads" are like shiny clothesline woven with similarly thick cotton rope. I would use it in a bedroom but we ordered it for a room where we wanted a pile rug. We bought this in the gray background version, and the color was true to the photo but the description is all wrong. I must say Overstock made the return process easy and painless and I would order from them again, but only if there was a zoom picture available to check the details. I suspect all the South Hampton rugs in this series are woven cotton also. Be aware.

I am happy with the color and the design but everyone should be aware that there is a significant odor for a long while from this carpet and I assume this is because it is not made with natural fibers and there is a component of polyester. This carpet is in a spare bedroom and I can not stand having the door and window closed in there because of this smell. I assume it will subside with time and I am happy with the overall design and quality otherwise.
