Safavieh Paris Shag Danara Glamour Solid Polyester Rug

So I'm on the spectrum, so you'll need to bear with me here. I am incredibly bothered by things that are not textured right. There are some things that are described as soft because they have individual fibers of soft yarn that are piled together. When you combine them all, the individual strands make a slight friction that is rather irritating against the microscopic hills and valley of my skin. Some might consider that to be "tickling," but to me it feels like tiny razor blades slicing my skin. When I'm at stores that have the towel and blanket sections, I am sensitive to the overhead lights. They have a tendency to give me a panic attack, so to calm down I put my hand inside the rolled up blankets, towels, and carpets and it helps to make me relax a bit. Every now and then there is a blanket with a softness that makes everything more than just okay. It becomes perfect. After studying these kinds of sublime materials for years, I decided to take a chance on this rug because it looked like similar rugs that had similar softness. And I was totally off the mark. This rug is BEYOND SOFT. When you first step on it, remove your socks so you get the full benefit of the strands as they meet your feet. As your toes crash against the clusters of fibers, the gentle caress is like a gentle breeze against your skin. A shifted foot pulled back glides evenly over the fabric like plush cotton balls drifting across a room influenced by an oscillating fan at low speeds. The strands are bunched together and are not delicate enough to tickle you or irritate the skin like drag a feather against the sole. Since it came rolled up, everything is matted so I assume that some shedding will occur. It does warn about that on the bottom label along with a suggestion for vacuuming often. I only gave it four stars because it's not as plush as I would have wanted it to be. It's not as thin as the sheepskin rug at Ikea, but it's not as cushy as other rugs. I wish it had a little reflexion so it was more comfortable to stand on for longer periods. In order to do that I'd need to get some sort of other rug that was exactly the same dimension as this one and affix it somehow. If you are looking for a texture that is uniformly soft, like that of an Akita puppy or Gund stuffed animal, then this is the most awesome texture that I've come across. It's not particularly spongy enough to stand on by itself (I have oak hardwood floors), but the softness of the fabric greatly overcomes that flaw.

Had purchased 2 other rugs, seems very hard to get true off white, they are either a yellow/ beige or bright white. If you are looking at the picture online it looks most like what you see in the furnished room. It is in NO way as thick as the other pictures but it looks nice. I rolled the ends backwards for a few minutes to get it to lay flat and its is perfect. If you are purchasing for a higher traffic area maybe get a felt pad to put under it as it is a little slippery on hard wood floor. The 2nd rug I had purchased originally was $899 so this was a nice price and gets the job done. I know how hard it is to purchase on line items as I am furnishing a whole house right now based on reviews of others because there is so much to choose from. Hope this helps someone else feel good about ordering this rug, I got the 8 x 10 size and would say don't hesitate to buy this. Great price and decent quality. Just remember it is not thick and plushy it is more like a floppy pile that falls different ways and is thinner but you don't see the backing at all. Happy shopping.

I ordered the rug first and then read the feedback on this size and others. So, I was worried that I was going to buy a stinky, slippery, shedding, black threaded silver colored nightmare. I will address the issues on the rug that I received. It does have a smell, but most new carpets/rug do. I aired it out in my garage and that seems to have fixed it. I did have to lay weights on the end for a day to flatten it out, buy it came rolled up and that's to be expected. It is smooth/soft/mildly slippery, but I can't fly across it like I'm ice skating. There are some black threads, but that adds to the color effect. I haven't noticed any shedding. The pictures do seem to make the rug look much thicker than it is (something I read more than a few times). The actual color of the rug seems to be the greatest debate. When I think sable brown, I have in mind a dark brown mink coat. Well no, it's not that color. The threads and lighting contribute to how the color. When the lights are on, it's predominantly a dark beige/brown and silver. When the lights are low, it does look more brown and the silver color is mostly eliminated. The nap of the carpet flows in different directions and this makes the color change too. I do agree that the Overstock pictures are not accurate in the color, except for showing the silver flow. I am using it with a dark gray/pewter chair and steel blue sofa. It goes very well with those colors. I wish we could post pictures as that would give people a better idea of what it's like in different settings. I am very pleased with this purchase and would buy it again. It's now 11/11/2018, more than 3 years later and I still love this rug. It's been in my office and just about every new client comments on how beautiful it is. It has held up well and there has been little shedding. My only complaint is that it's a bit difficult to vacuum. Otherwise, it's fantastic. When I originally posted my comment, you couldn't add photos or be rewarded for your review. I may update later on with a photo.

I now own 3 Safavieh Silken Paris Silver Shag Rugs. All 3 are same quality & color but various sizes. My friends love to lay all over them because they're super silky soft. I also added a high quality rug pad for maximum plush. Note: The rugs can feel a bit slippery so kids running around could be hazardous. I also own other fancy expensive shag rugs that cost 5 times more $$$. I prefer the Silken Paris shags best.

I really like this rug but I bought the shag rug from Safavieh and I am in love. The rugs are of the highest quality, you have to see for yourself!

Super soft and beautiful rugs! They are classy and add warmth to the room. Recommend placing a pad under for added comfort and to keep from slipping on a solid surface floor. Nice product

Very nice color, great quality, I recommended for everyone, and I'm going to buy the brown also. I have a big room to have this wonderful shag sliver rug. This is a very nice area rug that goes well in our guest room. The colors are true to what my computer screen shows. Five stars for lack of thickness/quality, but the price reflected that. Everyone who has seen it has liked it a lot. Also, I placed it over the ​carpet. If you're placing it on another surface, I'd recommend Safavieh Handmade Silken Glam Paris Shag Silver Rug - 6' x 9'.

this rug is quite lovely…color is true to photo, but the rug is much flatter than photo indicates. a few reviews compared it to rabbit fur; it is not at all like fur. the fibers are silky and smooth, but are more like the texture of drapery tassels rather than any fur. the pile is not high and there are areas where you can feel the knotting under bare feet. still, a very nice rug and worth the money. i was also really pleased that it vacuums beautiful; no thread catching or shedding. great piece.

Not what I thought. My daughter was sooooo excited when I ordered this rug but it is not what we expected. It is not very thick and fluffy like shown in the picture. I can see the backing through the strands and when you walk on it you can feel the plugs where it is put together. It also feels slippery (if that makes sence) Since this was going in a child's bedroom we are returning.

If you are in the market for a rug....THIS has to be the one. I bought the rug to put at the end of the bed in my guest room. Won't get much traffic so the ivory color will work. First of all, the look of this rug is rich and luxurious. THEN....the feel! I would love to wrap myself up in the rug on a cold winter night....yes...it's that soft. Can go wrong with this one!

This rug feels like your waking on silk! So soft and smooth. Not super thick but the feel totally makes up for that. It's the perfect look for my mid century living room.

This rug is sold as offering "luxurious comfort" and "one of the most silky feels available". While the fibers certainly are remarkably silky feeling, there is ABSOLUTELY NO comfort, luxurious or otherwise. The rug comprises the silky filbers and the base onto which they are woven. Nothing else. There is nothing plush or soft about it at all. When you step on it, you feel the the bad-hair-plug-like attachments of the fibers beneath the thin shag layer, and you can actually see the backing through the fibers. Yes, the fibers themselves are shiny and pretty and silky, but this rug is actually ugly and harsh-looking, with a very unpleasant feel under the foot. I cannot recommend it in any way.

Love this rug so much that I bought another for my bedroom! They are so incredibly soft and look so chic!

This rug perfectly suited our needs, and is extremely smooth/soft. The rug was wrapped very well, almost too well as it took a while to fully unwrap it. I did have to lay a few items on one side of the rug to get it to lay flat, the other side was already flat. I kept the weights on the rug overnight and it was flat the next day. I deducted a star because the trim is very visible on one side of the rug. I've been brushing part of the faux fur over it daily to try to cover the trim, but not totally successful yet. The same side that had to be flattened is the side that has exposed trim. Also, as some other reviews mentioned, the rug isn't a solid color as it appears online. It's obviously cream and black when opened, but when you lay it out, the combination of the fibers give off the sable appearance. I've attached pictures showing both views, so you can see what I'm describing. Overall, I'm very happy with the purchase!

It took forever for me to decide which rug to get (silver or sable brown) after A LOT of research i went with sable brown and ccouldnt be happier!! Color is a perfect blend of brown and a metallic cream...i love it goes great with our living room colors which are mix of gray and neutral tones...i was scared it would be too brown but its not!

This rug feels so good and looks so elegant! Everyone who comes into my livingroom says they love running their feet over my rug. The color sits well and the feel it awesome!

I put this rug in my sons bedroom. It looks great and fits in with the color scheme. I am very pleased with my purchase.

Amazing quality soft and yummy rug

The color of this rug was perfect for the space we bought it for and the feel is really nice. It gives the room a nice soft look and goes get with the other furniture in the room. It appears to be very sturdy and will hold up to foot traffic it will get.

Nice this rug looks very expensive and it doesn’t shed that is so important to find something that does not be all over your house I would recommend this to anyone

This rug is really cozy and warm to look at. Pile height is not what I wanted. Might need a rug pad. Took one star for the strongest chemical smell that it still has. If you touch the rug you will smell of the chemical. I hope the smell will go with time. Other than that nice buy.

This rug is very soft and luxurious! Very pleased with it.

This is a very soft and durable shag rug, though I wish it were thicker. The pile is dense enough but there isn’t padding or cushion that makes it feel good to walk on. So I’d suggest a rug pad with this one.

Love love this rug. I have one in my dining room (former living room rug but too small for my new place) and one bigger size in my living room. I always get compliments on it. It’s fluffy and soft and while we don’t walk on it with shoes, we still occasionally have dirt, etc on our feet that doesn’t show on this rug. I vacuum it every couple of weeks and it fluffs right back up and looks great.
