The rug is beautiful but the colors are not what I expected. It is a deep wine red and a true navy blue. Navy, not black, and could not pass for black in a bright space (like ours). Also note shades of olive, deep gold, dark periwinkle blue, and mauve as well. The mauve was an unwelcome surprise but it works in our "modern eclectic" space. It is the definition of a traditional rug in terms of color and pattern. Great quality rug, very thick and heavy. It is wool and sheds a bit when vacuuming but does not shed on clothes etc... I would not hesitate to order a rug from O again, the process was fast and painless; but I will make sure my color choices are flexible before I do.
I bought this rug for my son's apartment to warm it up. The rug is just gorgeous, and the quality is superb. The colors are rich and vibrant, and the rug is thick. The value for the money is incredible...and YES, I would highly recommend this rug! An 8 X10 WOOL rug of this beauty and quality, for the price offered on Overstock, is an absolute steal!
I received the Safavieh handmade Heritage rug and the rug is beautiful . It is very thick and tight . A very well made rug. The colors are bright and it is true to the photo from Overstock. I would recommend this rug.
I love this rug! It's stunning to look at this rug from anywhere of the room. I had this rug installed into my study and it goes perfectly with my mohagony furniture and bookshelves. The colors are very rich and the pile is dense and plush. I have read a couple of other reviews regarding this rug prior to making my purchase and decided to go with the positive comments; boy what a great decision! The boarder is a very deep navy and at certain angles/lighting can pass off as black. The reds in this rug is deep and luxurious. It almost feels as if the rug changes colors according to the time of day it is. Wonderful piece to have and at this price I could not have asked for more. Overstock.com has made my day and from the looks of it... many more days to come. Thank you.
Overstock delivers again by offering great prices, coupons, and quality items such as this Safavieh Handmade Heritage Traditional Heritage Runner. It's beautiful and very well made and I recommend Overstock.com and Safavieh Handmade wool runners to anyone!
Ordered this rug on Monday - had it in my office today, Thursday. This is a gorgeous rug - I was apprehensive about ordering it, just because there were not any reviews posted advising on color, thickness, etc. Hopefully my review will help other Overstock shoppers. The colors are very rich and the rug is nice and thick. Absolutely no odor whatsoever when unrolled. The navy is a very dark navy, almost black. So, if you are wanting soft navy, this isn't the rug for you. The red is more burgundy, think deep oxblood. The central design is very pretty in person - has taupe, kind of a soft willow/sage green and a medium sage green that has some blue in it, burgundy and dark navy in it. The other beige around the central design is lighter - more of a sand color and provides a nice "pop" of contrast around the central design. Overall, the colors are what you expect to find in a traditional Oriental rug. Deep vibrant burgundy, dark navy, sage, a light beige/sand, taupe, etc. This is my sixth rug purchase from Overstock and I have not been disappointed even once. Tremendous value for the price - I am very pleased with my purchase!
I am thrilled with this rug. I am a new Overstock.com customer and ordered this plush handmade & hand-tufted wool rug from India after reading other reviews. I am not disappointed. The rug arrived today, was very well packaged but easy to open. I let the rug air out for a couple hours on my back deck and vacuumed it. The odor is quickly dissipating. I was pleased at how quickly it lay flat-no curling at all. The rug is very well made with a canvas backing which will help it maintain shape. The colors are somewhat darker than my computer monitor, but I think that is because my kitchen is dark. The rug was brighter outside in the sun. I did purchase a pad so no chance of slipping. I love how thick the pile is, and how tight the weave. It feels great underfoot and I think it will wear well even with a lot of traffic. And I think the price was very good especially given the high quality of the workmanship. I love the rug so much, I have ordered additional Safavieh handmade/hand-tufted wool rugs for my hallway upstairs.
I am using this rug under a queen bed and worried that too much of the medallion would be covered. It looks fine. Enough pattern shows to see all of the colors in the rug. I had a little shedding, but not more than I expected from a wool rug. This rug looks more expensive than it was, the colors are rich, and I have no reservation about recommending it. The sale price was excellent. One person mentioned a mauve color in the rug, but mine had a nice Terracotta instead of mauve, a mossy green that would work well with green or gray, and lovely jewel tones including dark navy blue, crimson and gold. Both khaki and cream add depth and contrast to the design.
Tne Safavieh Handmade Heritage Traditional Heriz Red/Navy Wool Rug has bright, vibrant, rich color that is exactly like the pictures. It has a full, comfortable pile and it looks great in the room! Worth the money! Beautiful!
This is a beautiful rug and what is more unbelievable is the thickness and density of the rug. We have oriental rugs that cost thousands of dollars and this rug is as nice as our most expensive, hand tied, wool rugs. Would definitely recommend to anyone seeking a great oriental rug.
I can't believe how stunning the carpet really is. We put it down immediately not knowing what to expect and I can say I was blown away. The beautiful colors, fabulous design and it is so plush. WOW. I can't believe this was a quarter of what we'd pay in a furniture store (or more). We are delighted with this carpet.
Although I am pleased with this wool rug and I am happy to give it five stars, this IS NOT a Persian design as it was classified. Not sure how one would define the style. In my mind, its not a Persian design. I have quite a few Persian carpets, all made in Iran (Persia) and this carpet lacks the design elements of a Persian carpet, though there are some similarities. Since it is made in India, its probably an Indian design. Taking another look at the “Details”section, its clearly stated the “Pattern is Oriental” even though the style is listed as “Classic, Persian, Traditional”. OK, I concur with Oriental pattern description. REGARDLESS... I like this carpet and it is DEFINITELY hand made and Allah doesn't have to worry about this carpet being "perfect". You will see repeating design elements that are not identical, from one to another. Straight lines, no where to be found. Who cares! Its got character from its weaver and I am cool with it. The more I look at it, the more I like it and find it “right”. Yeah, I like this carpet. The construction is very good and yes I did... I ran my powerful vacuum cleaner with its beater brush running full tilt, set to "dig in" mode across the carpet several times. I do this to all my new carpets and the good one will not shed after the first time or so, once the construction debris is removed. The carpet I got does not shed. Solid and thick and the backing is soft, cotton canvas as stated, and won’t scratch your floors. Very good. When I first laid out the carpet... what colors do you think you are seeing in the picture? No, not a medium red... darker. Navy, darker, but not black as I can see “blue” with a bright light shining on it. The light areas in the picture looks like a medium cream... nope, more light brown or beige. I initially thought the carpet was dirty with a muddy water kind of coloration, but it wasn’t. The display picture is inaccurate as everything is darker than it appears. When I open all of the window shades and turn on all the lights, I see colors closer to what is shown in the picture. Still, this is a darker colored carpet than what is shown in the online picture. Do I care? In this case, NO! I like this carpet... a lot. Took me a day or so to get over it (picture versus actual)... I’ve really come to like this carpet. Look at the picture closely... there are a lot minor colors... green, rust, yellow, teal (I think) and they all blend well while nothing stands out glaringly. There are a lot of interesting design elements. And not a straight line to be found anywhere! Carpet has desirable character! Yeah, I like this carpet and glad I bought it. Sizing? Mine arrived at 7’10 1/2” by 10’1”. A bit off from 8' x 10’... close enough, no complaints. I used the “JustPlush 1/4-inch Thick Felt Rug Pad - 8' x 10’” pad available from Overstock... I don’t think its required as the carpet is thick. The carpet pile height is stated at 1/2”, and I think this is accurate across the carpet even though I measured a bit thicker on the edges. The 1/4-inch Felt Pad adds more to the thickness. BTW, this carpet is heavy. The FedEx guy was complaining about the weight but was gracious enough to put it my house where I wanted it. The carpet is well packed in two heavy plastic sheathing. As an old decrepit guy, the weight and the ungainliness almost got the best of me. My inner youth wouldn’t let the carpet defeat me. Plan on getting some help unpacking and placing it. So, what’s it like to walk on? I don’t wear shoes in my house and always wear short socks, on hard floors... walking on it with socks is comfy and plush enough for me. Without socks, the wool is softer than most other wool carpets I looked at locally, which kind of surprised me considering the cost of this carpet. Desirable. Overall... Very happy. I like looking at it though I still avoid walking on it any more than I have to... artwork in a sense.
I've been wanting a new rug for YEARS and my husband kept saying our old one was good enough (you know that tactic, right girls?). Finally, I got my opportunity to order this rug because he wanted a new surfboard. Yes! My husband saw this rug among my favorites and he actually liked it. Here it is only 2 days later and the rug was delivered by 10:am. I felt like a 5-year-old on Christmas morning trying to unwrap it-- The packaging was incredible. I rolled it out and Wow! It took my breath away. It's thick (.625 although some descriptors say .5 dep. on size) and plush to walk on. The colors are more muted than some of the photos show, which is what I was hoping for. I expect it will shed because it's 100% wool and that's what wool does -- Shed away! This gorgeous, plush rug pulls the whole room together as I knew it would. I compared prices with Amazon and Overstock won me over. And yes, the chandelier in the photo is also from Overstock. Happy, Happy customer!
I read the reviews and took a chance on this rug. It looks nothing like the picture; look at the photos of the 4 x 6 size and those are more accurate. It is more burgundy than navy and has jewel tones as previous reviewers stated. I planned to used it my family room but it is too bright. I tried it in my dining room and it looks great with my mahogany dining room set. It does have some light shedding. It's nice quality for the money and thick. I love it. I just ordered the matching runner for my back hallway.
I bought this rug two years ago for our living room. The colors are gorgeous; lots of them but subtle. The colors would blend well with reds, blues and greens. This rug never shed. One of the best things is that the pattern hides everything; dirt, toys, cat hairballs. I have two little kids and sometimes it's hard to find lost small toys on this rug. So even when the rug needs vacuuming, it still looks clean if I'm surprised by visitors. The style is definitely traditional which works well with our 1930s home. Overall I'm very pleased with the quality and durability of this rug.
Beautiful Rug-- Its just what I wanted. However, the title is deceiving--the rug has NO BLACK in it at all; the predominant color is navy (which is what I suspected from the picture and what I needed to match our furniture). Should change the name to navy/ivory rug.
I love my new rug ! The colors are exactly as pictured, only a little muted. The border is a true deep cranberry red, with navy, cream and a little gold and green mixed in the rest of the rug. I initially thought that the design and pattern might be a little "busy" but when I rolled it onto the floor it was perfect. We have it in our den on a dark brown stained concrete floor. The quality of the rug is excellent, and I haven't had any shedding problems with the wool, which I have had on occasion in the past. As is always the case with Overstock, it is an excellent value. I couldn't find anything locally that I liked for the price I could afford.
I love New rugs. It go so well with my living room suit. The color of the Safavieh Heritage Wool Rug blend together with everything. We have a log home and it perfect in it.
We are using this rug in our living room. We are so happy with our choice. The rug is thick and high quality. It feels great and has very little curl. It adds a layer of insulation to our floor and makes the living room more comfortable, The Heritage model of handmade wool rugs are excellent quality and designs. Highly recommended. Very happy with Overstock overall in purchase experience and delivery. Couple of things to watch out for. The rug is very heavy when rolled and being moved. I scuffed my newly refinished hardwood floor by dragging the rug across it...don't make my mistake. I later placed the rolled rug on small furniture dollies and laid down moving blankets while moving the rug in preparation for install.
