  • This should be recalled

First off, you need to run about 20-30 cycles before you can reduce the chemical and plastic aftertaste from the ice made by this machine. Problem is this can only making 10 lbs of ice in 36 hours . So you;ll likely need 3 months to get rid of the chemical taste if you run it 24 hours a day. It may be cheaper than a regular ice maker, but you pay for it in frustration. It took me almost 2 days to get it connected and I'm above average handy. Imagine what it would take anyone else.

Love this ice machine... We never run out of ice. It's in our Butlers pantry . You can hear it when it runs but it's not loud at all.

Questions & Answers

  • Q:

"Why did you choose this product?"

    • A:

I needed this for a house

  • Q:

"Is this unit made by KitchenAid? I see in the info their is a KitchenAid appliance fact sheet as well as History of Kitchen Aid Appliances. Is their any place they store the ice scoop? Do you know if there has been any problems with the ice breaking apart when it is made? Does it slow into a drain as it melts?"

    • A:

Hi m1003074l, we were able to verify this information with our support team. This unit is not a KitchenAid product. The buying guides we have listed at the bottom are the closest we can associate with this product including the top ten list as well as the extended warranty guide. As for your additional questions, the ice scoop is meant to stay in the bin and the unit does not have a holder for it. When ice is freshly made, they are dispensed as seperate cubes. However, when the ice bin is full, the compressor will shut down (for energy saving purposes). Although the unit is insultated, the ice are not kept frozen at all times. Stored ice may melt after sitting idle for a long time and when compressor starts back up again, the cold air may cause some melted ice to re-freeze and stick together - but they seem to break easily with the scoop. Finally there is a drain in the ice bin for melted water to drain out. Hope this helps. Thanks for shopping with us.
