I had a Cuisinart rice cooker, primarily because it was modern looking and stainless steel. But it had a very difficult time making brown rice wherein the water would foam and bubble out from under the cover. Deciding to eat healthier with whole grains, I decided to go a bit more tech driven. This rice cooker is fuzzy logic, so it has a small computer that keeps time, keeps the rice warm and manages different types of grain. It has made amazingly perfect rice, in a way that I didn't think rice could taste so good. Calrose, Jasmine, Basmati, sweet rice. It's made them perfectly each time. The machine is easy to use for the basic goal of cooking rice, though it can steam and make rice porridge, I haven't tried it or figured out how to do it. The instructions manual describes it all however. The only downside is the size. It is oblong and fits obstructively in a front facing orientation on normal depth counter tops. Placing it sideways just seems weird. So I keep it on a shelf but it's really easy to transport as it has a handy handle like a basket arm. The color is more of a bronzey nickel than stainless steel, so it's not likely to match a kitchen with stainless metals. I suspect the nonstick rice pot will need to be replaced eventually, but is the nature of the beast with nonstick surfaces. I love this rice cooker, as I use it 3-4x a week. I should have invested in a good Asian rice cooker sooner. I'm very happy with the purchase and I felt that the pricing at O.com was good and competitive.
This rice cooker works great! It's great for hot and sticky rice for sushi! We're from Hawaii where rice is a staple and this rice cooker cooks rice that tastes just like back home! Would definitely recommend this to anyone who loves their rice hot and sticky not like the stove top rice.
This works wonderfully. Worth even more than the price. It can make 3 cups (uncooked) rice. Almost not enough for my family of 8 because they love it. I don't even need to add butter because of the non stick pan. The steamer on top does work, but only steams about 2 servings and you have to remove it early if you like your veggies crunchy.
This rice cooker has all the features I need especially the retractable power cord. I got it for about 1-2 weeks and have only used the quick mode, and so far so good. The first one we got had defect: the top wouldn't open completely when I pressed the button, the plastic near the hinge was in the way. I contacted O and the representative expedited the replacement. I was very happy with their customer service and the replacement (the one I'm having now) is great.
