If you are petite like myself, this will work great. But if you are big and tall, this recliner was not made for you. The chair is already assembled --- screw the legs and snap the back in and you are all done. I noticed that it was sliding on my wood floor and scratched it pretty badly. Thus I bought some furniture pads to protect the floor. So far I am enjoying it. It's comfortable and looks great. How long will it last? Time will tell.
The enormous and strangely-shaped box arrived shrink-wrapped to a wooden pallet. The driver used a small fork lift to get it out to my porch. It is a heavy plus ackward piece for which I needed help just to get it inside. It arrives in two pieces. The back slips onto the bottom. The black lacquer is very thin, and chipped off a few places while we were carefully putting it into place. This chair is very firm and the movement is stiff. The back is high and reclines quite far back, but needs a LOT of clearance from the wall to do so. If you put the chair far enough away from the wall to recline, it is over a yard away, so kind of sitting in the middle of the floor. As I intend to use this for reading more than napping, I placed it just far enough to lean back and have the leg rest extended. Overall, I'm pleased with this chair, and would purchase again. I think that some of the newer style recliners slip forward and don't need as much wall clearance to lie back. If my room was much smaller, this wouldn't work. Hope this information is helpful. I wish it had been included in the specs.
This chair is pretty good. I'm not going to say it's great. It reclines perfectly. It's super easy to put together. It has plenty of storage in the arms along with the cup holders. It's soft almost everywhere. The only problem I have with it is that you can feel the blocks of wood in the arms while resting your arms on them. There is not nearly enough padding in there. I have two of them ordered a week apart and they're both the same.
Have had this chair for about 3 years now. It is for my husband, who like to "snooze" in front of the TV and wants head support. The wooden arms are great because he dirties and wears out the arms on upholstered chairs and then I want to get rid of them. This chair reclines without looking like one of those over-large, over-stuffed recliners which I don't want in my home. It is very comfortable and I would buy another one when needed.
