The enormous and strangely-shaped box arrived shrink-wrapped to a wooden pallet. The driver used a small fork lift to get it out to my porch. It is a heavy plus ackward piece for which I needed help just to get it inside. It arrives in two pieces. The back slips onto the bottom. The black lacquer is very thin, and chipped off a few places while we were carefully putting it into place. This chair is very firm and the movement is stiff. The back is high and reclines quite far back, but needs a LOT of clearance from the wall to do so. If you put the chair far enough away from the wall to recline, it is over a yard away, so kind of sitting in the middle of the floor. As I intend to use this for reading more than napping, I placed it just far enough to lean back and have the leg rest extended. Overall, I'm pleased with this chair, and would purchase again. I think that some of the newer style recliners slip forward and don't need as much wall clearance to lie back. If my room was much smaller, this wouldn't work. Hope this information is helpful. I wish it had been included in the specs.
Really pretty, contemporary design, firm seat. Beautiful color--goes with anything. My one complaint would be that it doesn't recline far enough to rest your head while watching television.
The first recliner arrived at my house with FIVE damages on it and not all could be attributed to rough shipping. Overstock cust. service was wonderful, they gave me a credit toward my next purchase and sent out a new one in much better condition. While the chair looks gorgeous on a purple shag rug and next to a purple glass lamp on a nightstand in the master bedroom, it is not well made for the amount of money they charge for this piece. Luckily I got it on sale and got a credit for the hassle, otherwise I'd be feeling like I've been "had". For people thinking about buying this, don't spend more than $250 and don't expect this to be a daily recliner that will last for years to come. It's more of a statement piece, looks gorgeous but don't use it too often!!
It's a nice looking chair. I like the design and the fabric it good. It's a good thing I bought it for looks and not comfort because it feels like sitting on a wooden park bench. It reclines easily but it feels like lying on a board. You won't fall asleep in it while watching TV. The color "grey" is deceiving. It is actually a cross between gray and powder blue. When it arrived the box was intact and securely wrapped in plastic. However, there is a 14 inch crack on the inside of the right arm. (see picture) It isn't shipping damage. It is a flaw in the wood. I'll just keep it rather than sending it back because the shipping was a hassle. It was "oversized" so it was shipped through a third party.
