It says "assembly required" but don't let that put you off! It comes in one huge box in three pieces with easy and excellent metal braces and the pieces slide right in - you can do it in two minutes. I like it! My friend just asked me where I got it because he said he liked it!
Bought this for a good deal. It's a great buy for a small chair. I doubt it will last long, but is easy to recline. Would be great if you could lift the legs up without reclining the back but it is what it is. I got it in taupe tweed which is a great color for my farmhouse look. If you hate overstuffed recliners and want something with a classic look- this is perfect.
The write up stated the the chairs were 37 inches wide. That was a strong selling point for me. While awaiting deliver y, I read some reviews and customer FAQs. In one, someone asked about the width and an Overstock Rep corrected the discrepancy. You need to do that on the site too!!! Otherwise, This is a sturdy, well constructed recliner. I bought 2 for my den. They are almost exactly what I wanted, minus the inaccurate measurement on your site.
I brought this reclining chair to go with a sectional that I purchased from a furniture store, who did not deliver to my area. I had to rent a Uhal truck to pick it up. So 1st, let me say that I was overjoyed that I didn't have to pay for shipping in order to get this chair. Just due to that, this chair is worth buying. The chair was delivered in less than a week. It took 2 months to get the sectional from the store. THEY had to order it. The chair was delivered in one large box. UPS sat it on my door step, so it was there when I got home. It fit through my door easily. Once I opened the box, I saw 2 large pieces. I started to get nervous, but all I had to do was place the back of the chair into the metal railings on side of the seat and hand screw the legs onto the bottom. (Easy Peasy) A 10 year old could have put it together. No tools were needed. The chair sits very well. I love it and my husband loves it. He is stout and I'm an average size women, and it was sturdy enough for him and me to sit in. He claimed the chair as his. The seat was not cushy soft, but it was firm and comfortable. We had thought that it would have been either too small or too bulky, but it turned out to be perfect. It wasn't too small or too big and bulky. The material is a step above a thin polyester. It's about the thickness of the material on a good chair for the dinning room table. It should last about 3-5 years with care. The chair is wide enough to enjoy sitting in it but still narrow enough to fit in a small area. We love it so much, we are expecting another one in a few days.
I was looking for a recliner that would fit in my RV. It had to be narrow due to the slide-outs. This one fits perfectly. It is comfortable and appears well made for the price. Probably a little small for sleeping on unless your 5'2" but am 6'0" and it reclines perfect for watching TV.
Before purchasing this item I had noticed that some people found it difficult to assemble. The only problem I had was fixing the back to the seat, which took a couple of attempts. However once I it in the right angle, it was a breeze! Except for this issue it was easy to put together by following the instructions. The chair has three positions, all of which are comfortable.
I ordered this recliner on faith and I am not disappointed! I have had 2 back surgeries and was struggling to find a comfortable place to sit. I'm 5'7" and this recliner is a perfect size! I'm in reasonably good shape and find it easy to close the recliner. However it might be difficult for some. Seat is firm, but I like it that way. Well worth the money so far! Thanks Peter Brady! Yes I watched Brady Bunch faithfully! My generation!
Purchased in Dec. 2015. Arrived earlier than expected. Can't believe I was able to hide 2 of these for a holiday surprise. These were easy to assemble. True to the color shown. They are very large and comfortable. You do need a bit of pressure to bring the footrest down. Good for larger people or a big space. Only drawback is that it's not a wall hugger and in my small living room I do pull it away from the wall, and push it back after use. Chairs are not heavy. To the point where this is a problem. I would recommend this.
This chair is perfect! I'm a big guy and it suits me well. It was easy to get in the house. We have narrow stairwells due to the house being built in the 1700s. It comes in the box in 4 pieces that are SUPER easy to assemble. Just slide the wings on the back and slide the back onto the main frame of the chair. It locks in place and can be removed should we need to ever take it out of the house. Unfortunately for me, my wife has already taken it over and is comfortable passed out taking a pregnant day nap! Great chair and free delivery as compared to the local furniture stores that would want the price of the recliner plus $50-$80 for delivery.
I swore I'd never buy a recliner! But, I wanted something to elevate my aching feet and an ottoman would take up more space in my small living room. Then I saw this chair and it's a perfect complement to my mid-century modern sofa. I purchased the dark gray which seems a bit darker than the photo, but I am OK with that. Being just 5'1", the seat is deep for me in a regular sitting position, but fine once I recline and the footrest is up, so I use a pillow at my back if I'm not reclining. This is a firm chair, but not uncomfortable, and it may soften up a bit with more use.
Doesn't get any better than this. Super soft leather. Great feel. Very easy assembly. No tools are even needed. Shoulder rests and back cushion slide right in with ease. No wheels or legs to install. Base comes assembled. A very nice comfortable chair. The picture shows the lever on the left but it was actually on the right side. After you recline you can lean back even further. Tall persons may get away with using as I am 6"2 and have plenty stretch.
Having my sights set on a high end recliner I realized my budget would not support it and my 25 year old recliner had to go! I had already decided on blue and saw this color so I decided to take the plunge and am glad I did. The fabric on this chair is beautiful and it is taught no sags or bags. The attached cushion is very firm which suits me well and I like that it sits higher than my old chair. I am 5'9" so the higher stance is perfect and I fit in the chair well. My feet don't hang over any farther than in my old chair and my head rests comfortably on the back. With that I think the chair is best suited for folks 5'7" to 6' tall. Not that it couldn't work but a shorter person's feet may not touch the ground when sitting and a taller person may not have a comfortable head position when reclined. The push back reclining mechanism is very smooth and allows for several comfortable positions including laying nearly flat. My only criticism is the fabric skirt in the back that moves to allow for reclining does not hang right; it has a bit of a wave in it. Not a deal breaker for me as the recliner is against a wall and I suspect that may be particular to this chair when it was made. I am calling this my 5 year recliner as I feel based upon normal use I will want to replace it as I suspect the batting in the back may begin to bunch or get lumpy at that point. I have no pets or children at home so that helps make things last. Perhaps I will be surprised! Any way this is an excellent entry level piece. Pretty, sturdy, comfortable, and inexpensive!
After 20+ years on a quality upholstered (and re-upholstered) club chair, I was ready to look for a worthy replacement. My preference was to find a recliner since I wanted to 'downsize' the space that had been required for my oversize club chair with its oversize ottoman. Also, I wanted to find an option that would give me many years of service. I'm inclined to seek out as many options as possible and do a fair amount of comparing and considering before purchasing. This recliner won out on my long list that included options from several vendors.
The leather (real, not bonded) is of great quality, the seat and back are wonderfully comfortable. My average height of 5'6" and my (somewhat above average) weight of 175# are nicely cradled in the seat with room for my 10# pup to snuggle in at my side. Though not tested, I'm guessing someone up to 6' in height would find the chair to be a good fit. The three position recliner mechanism is a real plus - it gives me a perfect reading angle, then TV watching angle, then time-for-a-snooze angle! I don't place my furniture against the wall to begin with, so have no problems with space for a full recline.
Will H., in phone customer service, saved the day for me after I experienced a nearly disastrous issue with the FedEx delivery of my chair. As the matter was promptly resolved, I'll just comment that "all's well that ends well".
Although the pictured Crimson Red color would have fit my decor perfectly, the chair color shows a red undertone only under a bright light - like the flash of a camera - and I would describe the actual color as a rich burgundy. In a former life I might have been more finicky about the color of the chair, but, here in my dotage, I'm inclined to accept the color and just be satisfied.
Overall, it's a great chair for a very reasonable price!
This is a terrific recliner. It has lumbar support while upright, which is important to me as I have spinal arthritis. It complements our leather couch nicely and the quality for price is terrific! I am not a fan of the look of most recliners, and this one still looks sophisticated. I should have bought two because my husband has taken it over.
Purchased two chairs. Easy to put together but takes two people. These chairs have firm seat cushion which we like very much. Offers good back support. The leather looks deep and rich. I wish the legs reclined to a higher position rather than the back reclining further back for the second position. However, I would recommend these chairs as they are very comfortable. Great purchase!
I absolutely love this seating for my game/ theater room. They work great, look great, and it is super comfortable. All of my guest that came over yesterday loved them!! My 2 very pregnant sisters were very comfortable in them too!!! The cons in my opinion is that it came with almost no instructions on how to put it together and there was nothing online to assist with it either. The light strip on one of the sections was attached in the wrong direction but they are only held on with black zip ties so I snipped those and flipped it around re zip tied it and it was fine. That alone caused about 10 minutes of confusion of how it went together. The brackets that hold the love seat portion together need to be moved out all the way to the largest setting so that they can be affixed together and have enough room to put a hand inside the armless one and be able to use the lever. All of the power bars can be attached together so that the stage right chair can turn the lights on for each of the chairs. Each of the chairs do have to be plugged into a power strip in the back. I hope this helps anyone trying to put this thing together. I super love this purchase and it's pretty much my favorite thing I've gotten on overstock.
We are 5'5" and 5'7" tall and of average weight and bought two chairs. We found the cushions to be slightly firmer than our previous, similar, chairs, but still comfortable. The cushions also hold you in a little at the sides, which is cozy. There are fixed reclining positions, but they allow enough adjustment for personal preferences, and it goes far back enough for a nap. One concern we had about the chair was its reported affinity for lint. Lint does show on it, but not nearly as much as I expected (we do not have pets.) A visitor wouldn't even notice a problem, but I brush it off with a lint-free cloth, or use a lint-roller on it every few weeks. We use the swivel function maybe once or twice a month & only when the chair is empty so I can't judge how durable that is. Overall, we are really enjoying the chairs and use them every day.
I wanted pushback recliners so I can easily vacuum under the chair. Silly, maybe, but I have found virtual landfills under recliners that are never moved. These were very easy to assemble and look really clean and comfy in my living room.
This chair was inexpensive on sale so I wasn't sure what to think since we couldn't sit in it before purchasing. But, happily, it is quite a nice piece. The chair is not bouncy-it doesn't have springs--but it is very soft and firm at the same time. When you sit in it, it's a little harder than you expect it to be but it is comfortable all the same. The size is just right. I don't like giant squishy chairs with giant arms that take up the whole living room. This chair is a good size for anyone to sit in. My son is six feet tall and 210 pounds and he likes the chair a lot. The only thing that makes me not give it five stars is when you put the chair back to its upright position it is a little difficult and tends to slide on our hardwood floor. Reclining the chair is easy and the footrest comes out really quickly with a springing pop. But to put it back down you have to just push on it with your legs and click it back into place. That's a little more difficult and makes the chair slide. So, just a few quirks to get used to. Other than that it came in good time in a box that was still in tact and was easy to install. Just put the back on the body and you're done. I would recommend this chair for anyone who needs a quick extra piece of furniture that's comfy.
Got this for my dad for Christmas. He has trouble walking and his previous recliner failed to recline anymore and was very low and hard to get in and out of. he loves this chair because it is higher off the ground and therefore easier for him to get up and down. He was even able to pay the guys a few bucks to take away the old chair which we had planned to do for him. He is very happy and says he feels like a King in this chair! I told him hubby is my prince charming but my daddy will always be the king! I'm so glad I made this investment. Worth every penny to make him happy.
This recliner arrived in about two days and was well packaged. Setup was a breeze--about 15 minutes with most of that time taking it out of the box and unwrapping it. (Read the one page instruction sheet--there is a strap preventing the chair from reclining during shipping that needs to be removed for normal use) I would describe the color as tan. The material is soft and feels good against the skin. The arms are dark brown, almost black.
This chair is super comfortable. I'm about 5'6", average build and the proportions are just right. The leg rests stop at the ankles, my head rests on the back cushion, and there is adequate lumbar support. Taller people may not be quite as comfortable. The seat part is firmer than the back so I expect the chair to hold up well to use.
What I really like is the smooth reclining motion. There are no latches or levers, just push back on the seat back and slide forward with your butt (you will have to push on the armrests to get leverage). There are two "locked" positions--closed mode like a normal chair and reclined mode with leg rests out 180degrees and seat back about 30degrees from vertical. I find the reclined position ideal for watching TV, reading, or napping.
There is an "extra reclined mode" that puts you almost completely flat (think business class on a plane). However, you have to use your weight to keep it in this position. I find that I just need to sit a little higher in the chair to achieve this. It's a very small annoyance but i don't see myself needing to lie flat too often.
Another thing I like is that when closing the chair from the reclined position, the motion is smooth, quiet and takes little effort. Other recliners I've used require an extra kick at the end to lock it in place--this chair will snap back in place. The design is well done.
Overall, I really like this chair. The style and color match the clean, modern look I have in the rest of the living room. The mechanics of the chair is superb and the seating is very comfortable.
I wanted a small recliner that would fit in the corner of the living room. This chair fit perfectly. It's not the most comfortable recliner I've ever sat in, but it is good enough to read a book in or watch television for an hour or so. The quality of the chair is okay, not as good as a LaZBoy, but this chair is less than half the price, so it's a good value.
I ordered these chairs for our bedroom for the color and size. They are perfect with a table and reading lamp in between them. As an added bonus, they are super comfortable and recline. I can now live in my room if I want to.
Great chair! I had to upgrade my 10 year old from his toddler spongebob chair, that he was a bit too attached to, and get him a big boy chair. It took lots of convincing because he loves that tiny, dirty chair but he is quickly starting to fall in love with this chair. He doesn't use the reclining feature because he doesn't weigh enough to keep it reclined, nor does he use the foot rest because it is very difficult to put the footrest back in, even for me. It's easiest when it's up against the wall but my son's chair is in the middle of the floor.
Nice Christmas present. Doesn't take up too much space in his tiny room.
Overall, it's a great, comfy chair! Perfect for a growing child. I hope it lasts as long, if not longer, than his toddler chair. That thing is 8 years old and it's still in great shape, minus the dirt. 😬
I was looking for a comfortable, attractive, well built, and modern looking recliner at a reasonable price. This meets all my requirements. It fits me perfectly. I'm 5 ft 4 in tall, so most recliners hit me in all the wrong spots. This is the first one that hasn't required me to use an extra cushion for the small of my back. It's very sturdy, and I like being able to make it recline without using a handle on the side. It's really hard to find an attractive, modern looking recliner that doesn't cost a fortune. This is the style I wanted, and the black bonded leather is beautiful and soft. I couldn't have found a better chair unless I was prepared to spend several thousand dollars. My only complaint is that the delivery people left the box in the driveway instead of in front of the door. This was really irritating because I was sick and had to struggle to push it to the door.
My first thought was what a beautiful chair! After a few times up and down in it, I realized I couldn't easily get the footrest to lock back in place. I had to drop to my knees and push it in (not acceptable at all). I found I could stand up with my feet as tight in as possible and give the footrest a good kick with one foot. I wasn't very impressed with that...hence 4 stars only. I have noticed that every day it seems a little easier. It has been just over a week and today I noticed that once it caught as I stood up. Perhaps it will lock normally in a few more days as the mechanism loosens. Also, this chair is for a small person, not a large man. I am a 5' 8.5" woman and my head is over the top in a normal sitting position. When reclined, it is fully supportive of my head, but my feet hang over at the ankles. If any taller, I would not like it. My husband is 5'8" and loves the chair. He has not reclined in it and does not realize it is hard to lock the footrest. After all, It is MY chair!
Very nice chair once assembled. Comes in large 63lb box. So I unboxed it exactly where it was dropped off and moved the pieces to where it was going to be placed. The directions are straightforward and the assembly is straight forward.
However, due to the padding on the furniture, you have to pull the pieces together to make the screw holes align. Three days later my left hand still hurts because I had to use my hand like a vice grip. If you're going to get this make sure you have 2 people to help move the box and assemble. Once put together, it's a very nice chair. The leather is super soft, the chair is very comfortable, great back support and I'm 5'9". The swivel base is very smooth and the ottomans are very nice. Takes up a small space for such a comfy/recliner chair. I wish it reclined a bit more. The recline mechanism is a bit clunky but it works. I guess I was expecting a bit more, and assembly was rough - took 3 hours to assemble two of these chairs by myself, get help - but they are nice, they are comfortable, the leather is nice, they look nice....
I purchased TWO of these swivel recliners and let me tell you, these recliners are the most comfortable chairs I have ever sat in! They are genuine leather, and come with the lumbar support feature, and ottoman! Both my husband and myself absolutely LOVE these chairs! I’ve seen these chairs at other retailers and they were much more money than what Overstock offered them for! You won’t be disappointed in these chairs, I promise! They are worth every penny! And, I honestly can’t say anything negative, except maybe, I’d wish that the ottoman would also swivel! But, that’s no biggie!
The chair arrived fast...I tried to put it together myself - bad idea... One side of the back of the chair I got lined up on the track but then it locked that side in place and the other side was completely off the track. And myself alone could not got it off the the track to start over. Called the company that made it and they were really helpful and then my friend haloed me - he pulled the back of the chair up while I sat in the chair - after a couple tugs and him pulling out the tab instead of pushing it it in - it came unlocked and we finally got both sides of the track at the same time. Now the chair is shower comfy
My boyfriend wanted a big and comfortable recliner and he is a big guy (6'5" and over 240), so big and comfortable was not easy to find. Ordered this one and he loves it! Plenty big for him (a little short for his legs, as his feet hang off the end...but that was to be predicted)!
