    • Second rod too close, too flimsy
      Verified Purchase

The second rod is weak, and if you want the main drapes to be hung by grommets, or wide curtain rings, there won't be enough space between the two rods. Also, despite what the picture shows, this price does not include curtain rings or metal 'tie backs'. Had i know this i wouldn't have purchased this set.

This is my favorite curtain rod. It is sturdy and the ends curve around to the wall allowing your curtains to cover the windows on the side so no light escapes.

    • CANNOT function at certain lengths

      1) The "satin nickel" finish looks fine as long as it isn't near more expensive plumbing fixtures or other hardware. Front/main rod has a slightly larger middle/ section & a stand-off support piece which works well between the 2 outer sections. 2) However, the small rear rods are not made the same way & do not properly join at all! One side section is larger but the other two are equally smaller so one of them cannot fit inside the other. Even heavily taped, if your window is about 100"wide, there's no way to make the connection whether using 2 or 3 of these hollow sections. We rigged ours by inserting a wooden dowel smaller than the opening to add stength, then cutting small wooden wedges to stabilize, and wrapping with heavy-duty clear packing tape. The tiny white plastic connector provided is useless at any length and should have been "clear" to blend with any chosen finish since the rear rods typically hold sheer or lace panels. Either somebody packed the wrong diameter center rod sections or their product engineer never actually assembled a finished product to catch the error; neither speaks well for this factory's quality control. Frustrating waste of our time as we hurry to set up the household before guests arrive despite delays from other contractors; otherwise, we'd have sent these rods back. Additionally, the rear curtain is being held by TWO separate rods with ends that sit on the middle support standoff; so, at best, the 2 rear rods cannot be the same distance from the window glass. In summary: good plan, terrible execution.

I am not a fan of fussy window treatments - I wanted simple and timeless for my box bay window. No room for finials, and it's important to be able to enjoy the full natural light when I want to, but to shut it out as much as possible when needed. These are good quality and look great! I have sheers on the second rod for full, diffused light during the day, and simple lined cotton drapes on clip rings that pull together for privacy at night. Very happy with the product, and plan to buy more to finish the first floor of my house.

    • Sturdy Long length Rob
      Verified Purchase

I love the extended length of the main rod, but the flimsy secondary rods are thin, weak and too flexible. Causes the sheers hung on them to bow in the center. And the lack of depth between the 2 rods prevents grommet top drapes/sheers to glide open or close. I'm keeping the product for the main 144" rod but would not recommend this if I needed it to operate as a double rod system.

    • Durable curtain rod
      Verified Purchase

This is an excellent product. I love the way it looks and I feel that it will withstand the distance that it has to cover. My only complaint is that it has plastic anchors. I feel that a rod of this length and this weight should have had metal anchors.

    • Thought this would be perfect
      Verified Purchase

I had to span a set of windows that were about 108". The main rod was perfect for that. I wanted to make room-darkening shades that could be drawn at night on the secondary rod. I reinforced the secondary rods with wooden dowels because they were so flimsy, and wouldn't hang level. The secondary rods collapsed and are totally unsatisfactory!

    Questions & Answers

    • Q:

"It seems like there is only enough add-a-rod to fill half of the 144" main curtain rod. Is it possible to order one more add-a-rod so I can hang my sheers all the way along the window? Without ordering the whole double rod again? On the manufacturer's instructions, it says that rods extended more than 72" will require 2 add-a-rods, but at the top of the page says that it comes with 1 add-a-rod. So I don't know if it's a manufacturing mistake or not, but either way I don't have enough parts to have a double curtain rod at the moment. Please advise! Thanks so much! "

    • Q:

"how many add a rod (smaller rods) does a set come with?"

      • A:

One smaller rod on each side, due to me ordering 120 inch rods. If smaller rod, may not come with but 1. Mine have a center support so the need for two rods, one for each side.

      • A:

        This comes with 3.

    • Q:

"Are there rings that go with this rod?"

      • A:

The Barricade Curtain Rod system does has matching rings sold separately. They are not sold by Overstock but I have seen them online at BedBathandBeyond.

    • Q:

"I want to hang a valance the length of the 11' window, with a wrap around rod. I want to put a 1 long panels on each side of the window, so I'm looking for a rod that will hold the entire length of the valance and also the panels underneath the valance at the edges. I can't tell if this rod would allow me to do that? Do I need something besides this product to do it?"

Hello klounsb, this window hardware should be suitable for your needs. It will give you enough space for your lovely set up. Thanks for shopping with us!

    • Q:

"I ordered two of these long rods (item # 13661255 Barricade 96 to 144 inches Double Window Hardware) for large windows in our master suite and formal living room. I have read that the back rod ("add a rod") that comes with items for the shears is quite week and needs supports or it will sag because of the distance. What supports in your inventory do you recommend to use? Please offer several choices that come in black that will work for these. Thank you."

      • A:

Hello roadrunner, this rod has never had this issue. The rod is designed to extend to 144 inches without sagging. Thanks for shopping with us!

    • Q:

"Why did you choose this product?"

      • A:

to replace an existing single rod

      • A:

      • A:

Hanging grommet curtains, need the wrap rod for strength and distance from wall. The curtains are outdoor water repellant, so heavier than usual, thought I needed extra strength. This is to cover one entire wall of my screen porch (144 inches) in case of rain. Will not use/do not need second rod, may use it elsewhere if can.

"Per taryandgrey''s question, do you know of a curtain rod that will span approx. 110" without a center bracket? We also have a 96" door that we are trying to be able to slide the drapes to one side, but can't with the center bracket"

      • A:

Hello lesbern, we do not currently have a curtain rod that will span to 110 inches, our inventory is changing everyday. Thanks for shopping with us!

"The big rod works well. however, why the "add a rod" is not long enough to hold to the big rod? it says max to 72 inches, however I am not be able to add the extra stick to extend the length. I think I might have gotten a defected package.Could you please look into this for me?"

      • A:

Hello evyy, thank you for your inquiry; you will be contacted by Customer Care.

    • Q:

"What is the diameter of the backplate?"

      • A:

Hello ldotthisbiznatch, we are not quite sure what you mean "backplate", but the curtain rod is one inch in diameter and the part the is attached to the wall is a 2 inch diameter. The rod does project 4 to 5 inches from the wall. We hope this helps, and thank you for shopping with us.

    • Q:

"Can this rod be hung from the ceiling or is this only for wall mounting?"

      • A:

Hello mariyak! This item is designed for wall mounting, however you may be able to rig it to hang from the ceiling as well. Thanks for shopping with us! -Amanda P

      • A:

I suppose you could mount it to the ceiling, but I'm not so sure the set screws would hold the weight of the curtains. You might have to drill through the wall mount and put the screws all the way through...

    • Q:

"A lot of people are saying that the second rod sags under the weight of even sheers! Is this true?? Can someone that owns this answer my question since customer service seems to just read the desciption back to you!"

      • A:

Thank you for contacting us e1nd. The Barricade Add-A-Rod is a three piece pipe which measures 30-72" with a 3" overlap between the pipes. When hung correctly and with sheer curtains there should be no sagging or bowing on the Add-A-Rod. Since we do not know the weight of the sheer's used that caused sagging and/or bowing in the review, it's hard to know what actually occurred. We sell many different types of Add-A-Rods, both round and flat hook and this is the first time I've addressed a bowing or sagging issue with our Add-A-Rods. Please let us know if you have any further questions.

      • A:

I used this for a patio door and used the provided center bracket. I have had no problems with any of the rods sagging. I have sheers hanging on the small inside rods, which I open & close frequently. I guess if you put heavy curtains on and extended the small rods too far (over 5 feet), there would probably be sagging.

    • Q:

"How much curtain weight does each rod can carry?"

      • A:

Thank you for contacting us nadahana. The Barricade is all steel and can easily support the weight of any curtain. The 96-144" rod will require the installation of a center support bracket to prevent sagging. Please let us know if you have any further questions.

      • A:

The inside rod will not support a lot of weight, even with the center support bracket. I have lightweight sheers and it sags.

"My windows measure 145 3/4" is their an extender for this rod"

      • A:

Set includes: One (1) window rod, one (2) add-a-rod, mounting hardware Dimensions: Rod adjusts from 96 inches to 144 inches

    • Q:

"Sorry my question was cut off earlier. Does this item have center support brackets for both the curtain rod and for the add-a-rods?"

      • A:

The 96-144" Barricade is supplied with a center support bracket for the main rod only. The Add-A-Rods utilize the same center support bracket.

    • Q:

"Description states: Set includes: One (1) window rod, one (2) add-a-rod, mounting hardware So does this come with only one add-a-rod or two add-a-rods? Two add-a-rods would be needed for the 96"

      • A:

Yes, you are correct. This comes with two add-a-rods.

    • Q:

"desription says that this rod projects 3.5 to 5.5 inches out from wall. huh? which is it?"

      • A:

The outer rod projects 5.5 inches from the wall, while the inner rod projects 3.5 inches from the wall.

    • Q:

"Most long curtain rods have a bracket to go in the middle. I am looking for rods that DO NOT have this as I need curtain rods for curtains for a large sliding glass door. Does this double set only require the two end pieces for full support?"

      • A:

Our 96-144 inches Barricade Rod comes with a center support bracket (in addition to the two end supports) that is used to fully support the lengths between 96-144 inches. The center support also provides the mounting bracket necessary when combining the add-a-rods for a Double rod.
