Story Behind the Art:
The town of Heriz is known as one of the most significant historical places in the Azerbaijan province. They are famous among collectors because of their soft earth-tone colors and geometric patterns. While no two Heriz carpets are identical, they generally tend to have a recognizable similarity. The inspiration for the weavers of the Heriz rugs came from the highly religious landmarks in the region. This particular rug was woven by Mr. Sultan and his family. His daughters help with the washing and dyeing of the wool when they get home from school, and his wife helps with the weaving of the rug.
