I'm upgrading patio furniture and was researching what is the best outdoor furniture material to protect against rust and remembered to look up the specs on this set. I have owned this set since 2008. Aluminum seems to be number #1 and of course more expensive. However, this set is wrought iron and has held up pretty good under my covered patio. As most have stated, it is black with what looks like specks of silver which was unexpected, but was a color I could live with. The first 3 or four years, I sprayed with clear Rust-o-leum to protect against rust which worked well. Then boredom set in, I stopped spraying with Rust-o-leum and I did begin to see signs of rust. The set is very sturdy and heavy, but easy enough to move around. With a little upkeep, I believe it would last a lot more years. Overall, it's a good value for the price.
There are no details on how to care for this furniture. We live in Georgia so the furniture has been outside for 10 months and started to mildew by the end of the summer so I cleaned it and oiled it but now the wood is splitting at the top of the back and on the arms. Better suited for a covered porch/patio.
It only rains in winter where we live, so we spend a lot of time outside in the yard. Some decent patio furniture is a must have. It is quite generously sized, but it doesn't feel like it's taking up tons of space if i set them up against the wall. I also put it in the shade of the house, so that saves the trouble of getting a big patio umbrella. So far this patio set has been serving us well.
Ordered this sectional for our outdoor lanai summer of 2016 and it is in perfect condition. We live in very hot Florida, but it doesn't get direct sun. It is super comfortable! We love how deep and cozy it is!
