Their behavior, particularly during spring, becomes quite intriguing as they engage in daylight chases and whats famously known as boxing a behavior often initiated by females to test the determination of potential mates. Nocturnal and crepuscular by nature, hares venture out for foraging between 7:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. During daylight hours, they take refuge in depressions called forms, with their backs partially exposed. Their agility is awe-inspiring, capable of reaching speeds up to 35 mph in a straight line, and their evasive tactics include rapid changes in direction, diving into streams, and even swimming when necessary.
