So far I love this microwave - had it a month. It is very efficient and powerful. Easy to use. Setting the clock is not as straightforward as my last model but, small issue. The size is perfect - just a tad smaller than my last but who makes whole turkeys in a microwave anyhow? I have to disagree with one complaint - that there is no light when the door is open. I actually LIKE this, because I can air it out with the door open if need be, without wasting the light bulb. My only teeny complaint is that it is a bit noisy. No more so than my older model, but it seems they could have made it a bit quieter. Overall, a great buy, a great model, and a nice look on my countertop.
So, this microwave doesn't have a spinning tray by design. Instead, they have the magnetron spinning above the top panel of the microwave to heat the food evenly. It seems like a decent design choice, but the microwave we had, it started to go out of alignment and hitting the top panel creating energy arcs, this caused the top to burn and start melting and falling on our food. The sad part is, only Sharp makes these drawer microwaves, and it took almost 5 years for it to start doing this, so it's not covered under warranty since the actual magnetron is still functional (that's the only part that's covered for 5 years). Sharp won't do anything about it. We had to buy a new one with the exact model and hope that it won't do the same as the other one.
The microwave oven is great except for one thing, the back light on the clock is only on when the oven is in use. The rest of the time you cannot see the time. This oven replaced one just like it and the time on the display panel was on all the time. Nothing in the manual offered any help. I call customer support and after some checking around, the person came back on the line and said it doesn't stay on because the manufacturer wanted to get an electric efficiency rating and so the clock isn't lighted except when the oven is in use. An LED light draws virtually no power. I cannot believe the answer is accurate. Otherwise, why would the clock always show the time but not be visible? Help please. SLD
