An Unusual Product - A Complete Pain to Assemble
OK OK - I expected this bench to be heavier - and I see my mistake now - I searched for Teak but only the color of this product is teak. That's on me. It's a lightweight wooden bench that I wouldn't want to leave outside. It wouldn't withstand any kind of outside weathering. It is an unusual size. It's large. Not just wide which is fine - it's also very deep - 20" and the spaces between the slats are large also. At least 1/2". I wouldn't want to sit on it in shorts (and bare legs). The worst thing about this product is the number of parts - about 20 wooden parts and an unconscionable number of screws ... about 50. 4 different size of screws all very similar so super easy to make a mistake. This was worse that any other 'self-assembly' item I have ever purchased. I would not have bought this had I know what a pain it would be to put together and how long it would take me. Also the screws the screws - there are 5 along each top strut. They are not countersunk. This is another reason not to want to sit on this bench with bare legs. Plus the screws are going to loosen over time - as screws do. OK OK ... I'm not completely unhappy with it - and even though I didn't need or want it in my house (I wanted an outside bench), I have found a place to put it where it is useful (but not for sitting on without a cushion) and looks good.
