The first reviewer said just about everything I was going to say. These two ponies arrived (shipped separately) VERY well protected and little later than the other items I bought at the same time. I had intended to give them to our horse-crazed stepdaughter, but when my husband saw them he said, these are nice, we are keeping them! The glaze is uniform in thickness and doesn't have an bumps or drips (pottery folks will know what I mean). The nice gold ribbon that comes with each can easily be replaced and these ponies are perfect for a Christmas tree. The tips of the ears and the tip of the mane are tinted brown. The color is a dark teal (under house light they look green, under sunlight they look blue) and the artist engraved his or her initials on the belly of one of them. I too thought the unglazed hooves were a nice touch.I am extremely pleased with this purchase, thank you Overstock!
The ponies are beautiful, very artistically stylized and the glaze is very shiny - like the picture shows. The color is more green-ish than blue, however, I do like the teal color. They are very artistically stylized and the pony "hooves" are unglazed, a very nice touch. My husband, not a ceramics or decorative items person at all, remarked, "Wow! Those are really nice ponies." and placed them on his desk. Now I need another pair to gift for the original intended recipient. SIze: They are rather smaller than I anticipated, but true to measurements. Think: Christmas tree ornament sized. The ribbon attached to them is more of a coppery-gold color and obviously meant for hanging. It complement's the glaze well. Removable/replaceable. Shipping/Packaging: These arrived incredibly well packed in many layers of cushioning materials - so breakage will only occur if you are rough and run over them or something strange like that or drop once ponies are OUT of the packaging. It consisted of a sturdy outer shipping box, a more flexible but just as sturdy inner cardboard covering wrapped and taped, tissue paper wrapper with Novica label on it around a big, oval "french-soap"-sized wad of very thick, almost fabric-like fancy paper wadding up to 2 inches thick. Then, only then, do the ponies reveal themselves, safe and shiny.
