    • Nice, but presents challanges
      Verified Purchase

Nice looking fixture. Sort of an industrial look that has some elegance. Glad it's up. Glad we picked this style. As far as getting it up...you decide. Some say it is a little large. Didn't they notice there are 8 bulbs, each in their own globe? Some say it is too bright. Did I mention 8 bulbs? Expect to use a dimmer. Some say it is difficult to install. If only some said that, then the others must have used an electrician (and pity the poor electrician!). Help is definitely recommended. Best with two people on two ladders. So much for opinion, here are some facts (and yet more opinions): My first shipment did have a couple of globes damaged even though the packing was very well done. The replacement was fine and once out of the packing the globes had an additional padding around them to help from damage when putting up (the first were just plastic wrapped inside their styrofoam holder. Globes are cross between being lightly smoke tinted and iridescent, not crystal clear. Globes have sockets and wires attached, but you will have to route the 8 sets of wires into the base and then make all the globe electrical connections together to a supplied pigtail leader. Each globe's pair of wires (black and white) is set inside another thicker insulator. This insulator then has a woven decorative fabric sheathing over it. Wires/sheathing are long, great for setting long heights of the globes, but the sheathing on the wires is very difficult to remove without risking damage to the embedded black/white wires, so you really should avoid attempting to trim the overall wire length. This means you will have quite a bit of extra wiring to hide under the base plate. You will need to have adjacent globes at varying heights (as they show in pictures). Globes adjacent to each other at the same height would not have enough spacing between them. They said it can be mounted on a slope ceiling, but that makes the spacing even closer and varied heights between each globe would have to be more than shown in the pictures (if even possible with the length of cord) BEFORE THREADING THE WIRES INTO THE BASE...I recommend having someone hold a globe by its wire next to the ceiling to determine your desired max length of the lowest globe(s) (bottom edge) and highest max height. If at all possible I would place the base length wise on top of something like a 2x4 that is supported across the top of two high back chairs (I used a window sill and table of equal height) and clamp the base to the board (protecting the base with cloth). I would then determine arrangement of globes in the base and route only a little length of each wire into the base first. With the elevated base on the board you can now easily adjust the height of the lowest globe(s) and then the others, without everything swinging around and hitting each other, before lifting anything in place. You do NOT want to have to adjust once the base is mounted to ceiling. Since it is likely that you will have an abundance of excess wiring to be hidden under the base, you might want to consider zip-tie/tape the wires in a coil. I grouped the 4 at one together and wired them together to a pigtail, and then the 4 at the other end. This would require you having suitable wire on hand to make an extra pigtail. Worked ok, maybe grouping and looping all of them together might have been better, don’t know, but grouping and zip-tie better than all loose wires sneaking out all over. Two people would be best raising, making final electrical connection, find the mounting holes, tucking the wires under the base and keeping things from swinging. CAUTIONARY NOTES: * The inserts in the base have a metal core. Mine had a few with a metal burr that snagged the sheathing enough to rough up the weave, not a problem going in the base, but would be seen if pulled back out to lower the globe. * The mounting plate, that mounts to the electrical box, is quite long. As others point out, the end of plate may sag and cause the base to not fit flush against ceiling when tightened (make sure all wires are tucked under base!). Because of this, note where your joists are. If the plate covers a joist, pre-mark their location on the plate before anything else. Should your base sag when mounting and it's near a joist/plate junction, remove and hold base (careful not to stress the wire connections) while your helper drills/screws in a sheetrock screw into the joist (don't over tighten and distort the base plate). If there is no joist near the sag, drill in a screw and then remove the screw and then remove base plate. Install one of the sheetrock E-Z Ancor Self Drilling Drywall Anchors into the screw hole you created, put plate back up and attached a screw at the sagging end through hole you created into the E-Z Ancor. Or just do it before even trying. In my experience, the socket/globe assembly (socket, extension bar running through top of globe with the wire in it, and conical nut on top of globe) are not sufficiently tight. As a result, when screwing in a bulb things will get twisted up (but be tightening somewhat…a good thing somewhat). If you try removing a bulb, things will untwist/unscrew…NOT a good thing). There is little space for fingers inside globe to try and hold socket and unscrew bulb. I am looking for a bulb thread “grease” to prevent stiction before screwing in my bulbs.

    • Pot Barn has the knock off

WOW. Pot Barn can go suck a rotten egg. This is better than their "Hack"ston pendant light. You won't regret this buy. We had it professionally installed and it was easy. It took about an hour. Keep the bubble wrap on and more if you have it. Set up a stand of wood and clamps between two ladders to insert all globes and adjust the lengths of the cords beforehand to save electrician costs. We have 10 foot ceilings and we set the first globe at 52" and went from there. It is a CLEAR smokey kind of glass. Crystal clear- just beautiful. We put edison bulbs of three different shapes in the bulbs for interest and it is definitely not your average look. Looks very high end. I can recommend this and I dont do that often.

Love this light, it was made for Edison bulbs! It is definitely difficult to install- especially on my 12' ceilings, and I do think it's a bit too short for them, but it's still beautiful and we've gotten good feedback on this and the smaller fixture in the same collection. I would also say that the hanging height is actually a few inches shorter than it says because you need a few inches of wire in the fixture to attach everything.

Love my pendent choice! Went by some of the reviews and the instructions to arrange the different levels of the glass globes. Our lowest globe hangs 32 inches above the island. The highest is 44 inches above island. The lowest pendent is 39 1/2 inches from the ceiling. We did have an electrician and his son hang the pendent. They did most of the set up of the pendent. Didn't take them long. When they attached it to the ceiling the plate fit flush against it. Some if the reviews said it didn't. We did not cut any wires and left them all under the plate. We used the equivalent of 60 watt bulbs and it is plenty bright! Looking forward to many compliments!

Great price. I saw *** and wanted that light but wouldn't pay their price so I bought this and am so glad I did. Me and my handyman put it up. Leave bubble wrap on as you hang it. It took two people about an hour. The hardest part is deciding how to place the lights. Each cord can be put at whatever length you will want. There is plenty of cord for many ceiling heights. The glass is a light gold color. I put a dimmer switch on mine and Edison bulbs. The effect is stunning.

    • Beautiful Pendant Lamp!
      Verified Purchase

We love this light for our dining room table. Very good price compared to other brands especially when on sale and using your "Club O" points. I was a little surprised, but it did take my wife and I roughly 2 hours to install. I would recommend using 2 people. The tricky part is that you have to hang the pendants where you want them-so look at diagram and try to get it right the first time. The little plastic pieces used to help hold the lamp wire are also a little bit of pain to work with. You will probably find you will need to stuff a lot of excess wires up behind the metal part of fixture. You can cut excess and re-splice though if your want. Also for some reason, my metal part of fixture that lamps hang from doesn't fit snug against celing and so it hung a little off. I jury rigged it, but I think the 4 nuts bottom out onto the hanger bolts and maybe the metal shroud isn't thick enough to make it all the way to press against ceiling. Tip to leave plastic on glass pendants is advisable, this protects them while hanging and also to keep your figure prints off them so you don't have to clean them all after installing. It's 8 lamps so we used LED bulbs since this is a highly used fixture. 40 watts for each bulb seems pretty good, although you can mix and match to get desired color temp and lumens you need. Since there is variety in the pendants, it kind of doesnt matter too much if you use different bulbs too, which is nice.

    • Looks nice after bolt cutting and drywall anchors
      Verified Purchase

Purchased in August but the light is not yet completely installed yet. First received light with a broken glass cover. Lifted box and could hear glass pieces. Waited a month to receive replacement from China. Finally received new glass cover and began installation. Directions are pretty non-existent besides basic connection of black and white wires and ground. Doesn't tell you to connect all black wires together and then all white wires together. No big deal. We found the height adjustments to be fairly easy. Just leave the bubble wrap around the glass covers. The fixture is fairly heavy thus need 2 people for installation. We found the rectangular metal support bracket to not be strong enough to hold the weight of the 8 fixtures flush to the ceiling. This is because the only connection to the ceiling is in the center of the bracket. Basic physics. We installed drywall anchors on the ends of the brackets. The 4 bolts connecting the support bracket to the cover plate are too long. I don't understand why bolts would be ~1.5 inches when the cover plate and bronze nuts are about 1.25 inches long. Had to cut bolts. Lastly, after installation, removed the bubble wrap around glass covers and found one to be cracked! Called overstock and had a whole new light sent for parts I need to finish the job. Now just need to take whole fixture down to replace one of the fixtures. Overall, the fixture is very nice looking. To say installation is a pain is an understatement. Take note of all tips before installing and uninstalling multiple times like we have.

This is a perfect addition to our dining room. There are a lot of pieces and you will need to lay out the fixtures in the pattern before you put it up. Keep the globes in the wrapping until the fixture is hung. We have an older home and have 8 ft ceilings. The bigger globe drops 30 inches from the ceiling placing the others accordingly to make a pattern. We reinforced the fixture to ceiling joist so it does not sag and is completely flush to the ceiling. I would suggest 2 people for this project if you are experienced. If not you may want to hire someone.

I cannot even begin to say how happy I am with this purchase. My husband and I decided to take on this project and it could not have been easier. I do have some tips. #1 - all the pendants are separate so before you cut any length, pull it together and pull the cords through the plate. Once you have that done and you determine the length, only then cut it. I made the mistake of cutting one before pulling it through the plate, and I had to deal with the rope freying.. I got it to work but it was easier the other way around #2 - the wiring. The instructions are very vague and are not clear. So in a nutshell, every lamp has 2 wires ( black and white) you must get all the black wires from all 8 pendants and twist them together with the black piece of wire they provide. If you need to expose more of the conductors you can use a wire cutter to strip them. You then connect the end of the black wire to the black wire from your ceiling. This is the same for the white one. You also have a ground wire which connect to the wire bolt on your ceiling plate. The trick is to make sure you separate the black and white wire from each pendant so have enough slack to connect them to the rest. It may look funny But t works! They provide you with some twisting caps which help to twist it all together and keep in place. #3 choosing the length. The instructions has a good picture that I followed to lay out the order of the pendants, I also used it as a guide for the lengths. We used to chairs from our dining room to hold the pendant while we adjusted the lengths of each one. Now that you have your pendant put together, in the ceiling it goes this part you need at least 2-3 people. 1/2 to hold it in place while another aligns the screws. All in all we spent about an hour doing it all. I have to thank the previous reviews who suggested the Edison bulbs. I spent about $30 on them. I got 60 watt bulbs in 2 different sizes, one larger size and one small round one. In addition I purchased a dimmer (took all but 5 minutes to instal) and all in all it took this pendant to a whole new level! Amazing and worth every penny.

My husband and I installed our light a few days ago. It was packaged well and we had no issues with broken or missing pieces. It is such a drastic improvement over the previous fixture. We added 40W clear globe lights because the Edison lights are too orange for us. It looks so good! We installed it the night before we hosted a birthday party and got so many compliments. We also installed a dimmer that uses the existing plate cover and it really changes the feel of the room at different brightnesses. I can't recommemd this enough. I was initially hesitant about the color but it really warms up the space and looks fantastic over our hand scraped wood dining table. The spot where the wires are isn't centered over our table and I thought the long base plate would allow us to adjust it but well have to drill holes in the hidden metal plate to make it happen. I'm not sure if it will weaken it too much or not. But the nice thing about this light is it doesn't look terribly off centered because of the different light lengths and the rectangular shape. One other thing to note we fully installed the light and then pushed the strings up into the base plate to adjust the length. It didn't allow for much play but we have taller ceilings 9 and only a couple needed to be an inch or two shorter. Get ready for your arms to burn!

    • Beautiful pendant, not easy to install.
      Verified Purchase

Absolutely stunning pendant light. Installation was NOT EASY, but two of us were able to do it, after about 3 tries. The tedious part is the wiring of 16 individual wires that need to be connected accordingly (8 single negative charged wires need to connect together, and the same with the positive charged wires) then attached to the ceiling wires. A few suggestions: Have 2 people hold the light fixture while a third person is installing and connecting to ceiling wires (It's heavy when only one person is holding while the other is wiring). Keep the foam wrapping on the glass pendants while installing (seems like a no brainer.. but I removed them) to avoid them knocking together. There will be quite a bit of slack for the wires, depending on how low you are hanging them. Other than that, once we installed the light we felt like pros, and it looks beautiful. Lastly, consider adding reinforcements to the unit's base plate, as the 2 screws in the ceiling outlet box are the only thing holding up a pretty heavy unit.

Ours showed up with a HUGE gouge on the ceiling plate. The company does not ship individual pieces, so something to be weary of. We took an account credit vs the hassle of returning. Installation is a huge pain, and for this number of lights and cords, the ceiling plate is not thick enough. It's almost impossible to adjust the length of the cords once installed. It is beautiful in the room, with a a few trade offs...
