Three stars because of how hard it is to put together. I was wary of it because people said it took a long time to assemble but I thought "Hey, I've put together a lot of Ikea furniture in my life, people are just lazy." It turns out people are not lazy. It took over eight hours to build and was incredibly complicated. (You have to put together the actual locking mechanism and slides for the drawers). My husband and I very nearly divorced over this piece of furniture. By the end we got it put together, but one drawer wouldn't close, which, look, was probably our fault because we didn't realize you had to be a professional carpenter to assemble this product and we are not. Anyway, I took off a piece that didn't look too vital and now it closes fine, but who knows what I did. The dresser looks great and seems really sturdy, but be prepared for some serious building time. You could watch like an entire season of The Office building this (and should, it will offset your bad feelings about the dresser). There are roughly 14 billion screws, I HIGHLY recommend sorting and labeling them before you start (we put the wrong screws in a piece at some point and had to take them dresser apart a few steps later when we realized). We are happy with the results but will probably have to just burn our whole house down rather than attempt to take it apart when we move.

    • I decided to write a review because I'm always thankful for those who write them, so I hope this is helpful :) First of all, I love the color of this dresser! It's exactly the color I had in mind. I love the color and shape of the handles, as well as the shape of the legs. It's a really beautiful dresser. I put this together all by myself, and I had to do it over the span of two days. I would definitely recommend building it with a buddy or paying a little extra to have someone else build it for you, although I did learn many new things while putting it together. The wood feels pretty sturdy, but the back of the dresser isn't the same wood as the rest of the dresser. I'm not quite sure how to describe the material.. it might still be wood, just really thin. It almost feels like it's just there to cover the back. I wish it was thicker, but it's good enough for me. One thing that I wish was different... As a girl, I like opening multiple drawers at a time while trying to get dressed, however these drawers have a lock system, where you can only open one drawer on each side at a time. You can have one on the left and one on the right open at the same time, but no more than one on each side. It gets annoying at times, but it's tolerable. It might be possible to skip the part when assembling the drawers, but I'm not sure. I hope I did a good job of explaining, haha. All in all, I would definitely recommend this dresser! :)

It's my fault. I should have read the reviews before I bought. And I should have known I was in trouble when two very small, flat, and heavy boxes arrived. Well... eight hours into it, I am on the final steps. Note: I am an experienced wood worker and have ALL the tools. There are hundreds of parts and 40 steps in the instruction manual. I have never put together anything that has tested my patience as this. But it's not all bad. All the parts are present, instructions are clear, hardware is good quality and the particle board/wood and paper veneer is accurately sized and precisely pre-drilled. Once together, and adjusted, it does look nice. Also realize, this is no heirloom. It will likely last long enough for your middle schooler to graduate from highschool. But the price makes it all OK. If you follow the steps carefully, and have a ratcheting power screw driver to avoid stripping the holes, you will be successful at building this beast. Set aside a frigid winter day... or two... and settle in for a long winters assembly. I'm not sure I'd buy it again. I was looking for something already built.

This dresser is beautiful, it looks exactly like the picture just a bit darker, like its described an ash gray color. It was a bit hard to assemble it took me about 6 hours, I had an issue with 2 of the mount slides and the drawers weren't closing properly and called the company and got 2 new ones in about 5 days, after that everything worked well. My only disappointment is the material quality, I think is very poor Laminate, MDF is not the best choice if you want something to last longer. But I guess that for the price, it's fair enough. Still in love with the color and the way it looks.

Nice dresser. I was dreading assembling it because of the reviews. But I was able to put it together in no time. Started late at night and finished in the morning. The only issue I ran into was when screwing the slides. I had to omit the #3 screw or else the slide wouldn’t close. Other than that I had no other issues. I love my dresser. Happy I made the purchase.

Excellent piece of furniture with one caveat: extremely labor-intensive and challenging to assemble due to poor labeling (none of the screw bags were labeled) and inefficient, sketchy instructions. It took my husband and I almost 7 hours to put this beast together, and I have to admit the result is indeed impressive. The drawer mechanism is rather complex, but seems to work like a charm so far. The dresser has a slender footprint, and it looks really beautiful when it is all put together. The color is true to the description, as depicted by the pictures. Be advised that when you open the main box, the color of the pieces on the top (drawer parts) is espresso/black, and that can be a little disconcerting knowing you would expect to see either natural wood or gray colored components. I almost called Overstock.com to let them know they had shipped the wrong color dresser. lol

We purchased this dresser and two nightstands for a luxury rental home in Florida - loved the grey/sand color and the horizontal bands reminded me of the beach after waves have made lines. It was a long assembly process. And though the style is great, the quality is lacking in that the back piece is flimsy and the legs are plastic - not wood. The pulls are nice, and size works well in modest size room.

Great safety feature. Drawers open only one at a time to prevent tipping.

Very nice. Dresser drawers are deep enough to fit most clothes. Color is as pictured. Drawers lock as a safety feature so you can only open 1 drawer at a time on either side. Good buy.

Overall, it is a study piece of furniture, at least 90% of it is. The bottoms of the drawers seem a bit flimsy. I would prefer to see 1/4 piece of wood or double up the cardboard pieces for the bottoms of the drawers. I won't add a line about the labor intensive project it is to assemble. Maybe to cut done on that, try some assembling the slide spacers onto the side panels and see if there is any other pre-assembly that can be done before shipping. My package was missing 1 H23370 screw, so I had to run to the hardware store to replace it. On the subject of screws, I would try putting each size in it's own package and labeling them. Some of the screws aren't very different in size. It would have been nice if the 4 in foot screws were countersunk so the sides sit flush against the bottom shelf. The last suggestion would be for the drawer sides. I would have only drilled holes for 1 interlock wedge on two of the left sides to indicate those were for the middle drawer.

    • Two Days

Now, after two days of assembling, I can sing the praises of how beautiful this dresser is, and how wonderfully deep the drawers are. Oh! And their reinforced! Which is something you don’t usually find on these type of build it yourselves. But it took two days to do it! The steps were very easy to follow. I do wish that the packages of screws were labeled, because most times I would just guess at the one they were asking for me to use. But there are A LOT of steps hence, the two days.

    • Pretty but difficult
      Verified Purchase

I love the look of this dresser but it took me three days (I needed breaks) to assemble it by myself because there are a billion parts including over twelve different kinds of screws and many different parts. You definitely need a good power drill and a good set of tools to assemble it. Make sure you assemble it on a soft surface because I assembled it on the cardboard it came in and by tilting the partly-assembled dresser the sides started peeling a little. Looks great so in the end it was worth it but be ready to spend a lot of time on this one.

This is an excellent product that looks even better than the pictures. However, as some folks have mentioned assembling this is no joke. I spent a solid two days getting this assembled. The reason for this is that this cabinet uses one of those anti-tip-over mechanisms found on large file cabinets. A great safety feature if you have kids but a total pain to assemble. The company is extremely responsive and actually picked up the phone when i called to ask for some screws that were missing.

Took some time to assemble and still not sure if I did it 100% correctly but it’s functional and the drawers are deep enough to store all my clothing. I like that the drawer interior is black.

Dresser is just as described and pictured. Assembly time was outrageous, taking almost 8 hours to put together. One drawer seems to not function appropriately.

It is perfect for a guest room or a kids room. The drawers have a safety feature, so you can only open one drawer at a time. The color is true to the picture, a nice modern looking piece.

Pretty good. It just very well with light walls. I wish it was a little studier. You can’t open all the drawers at the same time. It took me time to assemble it. The drawers are roomy i can put a lot of stuff in it.

Got this to match our nightstands and it looks just like the pictures. Just like the other reviewers said, it takes awhile to put together. Definitely became a whole night activity for my husband and I (around 4 hours or so). The drawer locks on the inside towards the end were confusing... Once we finished it a few of the drawers wouldn't open and it was because the locking mechanism was off. Took around 30 minutes or so to figure out. Overall, it looks really nice in the bedroom.
