I've use the natural colored version of these before and liked them. This time we decided to use them in a new home office mainly due to the fact that they're sturdy but lightweight and easy to get up our stairs. At the moment they're both stacked, full of hard-bound books, and don't show even a bit of sagging after three weeks. One thing I would suggest it connecting the backs together with a two-inch, screw in metal strap of the kind you can buy at a hardware or home center. While not required it gives me a little more assurance that our cats can't climb on them and pull the top unit down. I also wish they offered a matching top shelf-- or 'cap'-- for these as it would be a nice place to put a few knick knacks. In short, they're well worth the money if you need functionality and reasonably good looks as opposed to a furniture quality bookcase.
We bought two of these to put on either side of our wall-mounted TV. We also ordered the chantry flats book case to go under the TV. We like them just fine. super easy to assemble. Rather flimsy so you wouldn't want to use with actual books. Maybe picture frames and stuff. very light weight so you must use strap to tie it to wall. Which is ugly. Instructions have it screwed in at the middle top and sticking up so you can see it go into wall a few inches above bookcase. you can flip the bookcases either way and it looks fine. overall I'm satisfied with it. you do get what you pay for and comparably this price was pretty low. that given, no complaints here. Even though up close it looks like a laminated photo copy of wood, it looks really good from a distance and for a vacation home that's rarely used, we're ok with it being there.
Just added this bookcase to the tv stand that matches, and it makes it look even better. I have gotten so many compliments on the industrial loft feel that I was going for in getting both of the Myra shelves. Very easy to put together and shipping was quick. The only issue was that the screws for the bottom shelf were too short. They just spun around and did not lock the shelf into place making the whole shelf unstable. It was easily fixed by going to the hardware store and getting a longer screw. I got two inch screws, and even though the come through a bit, it isn't noticeable. I would definitely recommend this line of products to anyone.
This is a worthy alternative to something *** is selling that looks identical. It's not as well built and they took some short cuts in construction but that's to be expected for the price. (The shelves bolt on from the outside of the frame and you can see the bolts, for example, plus other ones) It looks nice and matches close enough to the *** 'acorn' cabinet I have next to it. That was my biggest concern when I ordered it, that they would look decent together. The W.E. option is grossly overpriced in my opinion considering their products are not usually a type of thing that you hang onto for decades, hand down, or that survives multiple moves. Plus something like this is usually MDF wood. My main disappointment with this is that the shelve heights are a tad too short to be able to stand vinyl LPs up completely vertically by about a 1/4 inch or so. Yes, one could put them on the top shelf but that makes it rather top heavy for more than 20 albums are so. Some albums will barely fit if they aren't in a plastic sleeve but the large majority won't and have room to stand vertical. Of course, this may not matter to you. If you're curious, you could put a turntable on the bottom shelf but the shelf height is low enough that it would be a hassle if you have a lid on your turntable. So in the end, if the shelves were somewhat adjustable or spaced out a little more then this would be perfect for my use.
