Story Behind the art:
My name is Made Tresna, and I'm from Ubud, Bali. I grew up in an artistic environment - I was always in touch with many artists and artisans everyday. For as long as I can remember, I have always been fascinated with woodcarving, an art form I have been practicing since childhood. My father taught me, and he is one of senior carvers in my village. I carved wood statuettes for some time, until I realized there were many people in my village doing the same themes. Searching for something new and different to carve, I realized I enjoyed carving masks in a more contemporary style. My favorite piece is a mask with four faces that I designed as symbol of a Balinese family. I named the mask 'Wayan, Made, Nyoman, and Ketut' - these are traditional Balinese names to refer to the first, second, third, and forth child born. In 1989 I married Wayan Lungid and now we have two children. I work hard to make a living and also to provide my children's education.

The handmade touch of artisan skill creates variations in color, size and design. If buying two of the same item, slight differences should be expected. Note: Color discrepancies may occur between this product and your computer screen.
