"If I am buying an 8' x 10" rug, should I buy a 7'6" x 9'8" pad? From experience, I do know that not all rugs are exactly the measurements you order. If I purchased an 8' x 10' pad, could it be trimmed if needed?"
I bought these pads to put down under my runner and room size rugs that I also purchased from overstock.com. They are easy to handle and cut to size. They definitely keep the rug from sliding around. Happy with purchase.

This rug pad really holds my rug in place - even when my cat runs on it and pushes at it. I've had rug pads that are no better than just a rug - so I mean it when I say, this one is the best.

I bought this for an 5x8 rug, realized I needed a bigger rug for the area, I used the same 5x8 slip rug pad on the 8x10 worked just as well.

A Great Rug Pad

Warning! I thought this rug pad was working great, but about 6 months later, I lifted the rug and pad to clean underneath and was horrified that it has etched a waffle-pattern onto my laminate floor (see picture). I first scrubbed and scrubbed, thinking it was a film that had been left, but on closer inspection I realized that the pattern is actually scratched into the floor. After reading more about it, this apparently is a common problem with pvc coated rug pads on both laminate and hard-wood floors. The product description should be changed to state that these pads are not safe on laminate and hard-wood. This will end up being the most costly rug pad I've ever purchased.

good rug pad, helps my rug not slip and it can be cut which is great when you need a custom size rug pad but don't want to spend a ton. Would recommend.

Does the job; gives the rug and little cushion. I had to cut one side about a half inch to accommodate the rug but not a bid deal. I would recommend this product. Along with the comfort of the material under the rug, it keeps the rug from moving around even when I vacuum.

We bought two of these because we thought they would be just right with some rugs we also purchased. It turned out they were off by just an inch or so. The pads were very difficult to trim down and were just a little off from the size they were supposed to be.

I have tile floors in the area we are using the rug pad, so I don’t know about hardwood floors. It doesn’t seem like it would negatively affect a hardwood floor though.

I have hardwood floors and I have had them under my rugs for several years. I haven’t had any problems and they didn’t make any marks on the floor.I would call a flooring company and ask them the same question just to be sure. They would know best since they know all types of hardwoods. I recommend this pads. Very happy with them.Tracy

I have laminate floors and no issues with this product. However, I had hard wood previously and had the same issue as you have with the hatch pattern from rug pads. The previous pads I used looked like this but were made of foam rubber material whereas this one is vinyl coated polyester. I believe that is likely the difference.

It us super light. It was easy to pick up and reposition with no trouble at all. it’s not very thick and honestly doesn’t feel like it adds that much cushion at all. It does a better job of keeping the rug in place than it does cushioning your steps.

I believe tape wouldn’t hold well and would leave a residue that you may not want. This would work well for your rug just make sure you get it as big as your rug.

Try Velcro dots. Stick the rug too the pad, and if necessary, stick the pad to the floor. They will not damage any floor and will keep your rugs and pads in place forever but make it easy to pick up the rugs and move them or take them outside and shake them out. The only time you would have to remove them would be to wash or dry clean the rug. They also make a great hem on jeans when you are on the run:)))
