  • we've only used it once but it was very fun!

I read other reviews first before purchasing this as a Christmas gift for my son, who LOVES donuts! I had read that this was fun to use with pancake batter and so we had pancake donut holes dipped in syrup on Christmas morning for breakfast... It can be a little messy to fill the cups but it wasn't too bad.. I must admit, I really enjoyed them too! This cooking method seemed to give the pancake batter a really old--fashioned flavor and density without the greasiness of deep fryer donuts :-) I look forward to making donut holes and cake-pops very soon! One thing to consider before you buy: I just found out today that you can purchase a 2 piece BAKING PAN for donut holes/cake pops that you bake in the oven much like ordinary cake or cupcakes with a cover on top to shape the rising batter into round balls like the cover of this appliance does. THAT pan makes 18 of them at one time, so depending on what you are buying this for (volume or FUN) you may want to consider that option. Personally, had I known, I think I still would have chosen this little only makes 7 at a time and it takes about 4 minutes to cook. I was not thinking about bake-sales - just for ME and ONE child. It's cute to look at, fun to use and we ATE BREAKFAST with it - so you can say it has a practical side...and that's what I was looking for!

  • Not a good choice

Please don't waste your money on this product. The cooker does NOT make round cake balls as in the picture. It is NOT easy to use. After several efforts to make donut holes or cake pops, this appliance will be available in my next garage sale. One side of the bottom of the cooker got hotter than the other. If you actually put enough batter in the cup to make a 'ball' it oozes out the side and burns. If it doesn't burn, the middle of the item is undercooked. Please don't waste your money.

I have had fun with this but was disappointed to find the injector missing from my box. others speak of it so i know some got it included. I searched through the whole box several times thinking i missed it but no injector. It was something I was really looking forward to using too. The cooker is much hotter on the bottom side so the cakes are darker on the bottom.

  • quick dessert!
    Verified Purchase

This donut hole maker was a fun way to make a quick dessert. Because the donut holes are baked, powdered sugar and regular sugar do not stick well on the donuts. I put icing on my first two batches. I did not try the cake recipes in the booklet, but the donut recipe had too much nutmeg for my liking. I used less in my second batch. These donuts are best eaten as soon as they cool. They harden ovenight. The syringe to fill the donut with jelly worked well, but I think it would be best to widen the hole in the middle with some of the enclosed wooden sticks first to allow the jelly to get into the center. I cannot eat dairy so buying store made or bought donuts is a no-no. I was able to adapt the recipes to use rice milk and have dairy free donuts for the first time in years. Great fun product!
