"Why did you choose this product?"
I bought this a few years ago after lots and of research into the best way to roast coffee at home. It's ridiculously easy to use. Things to note: Coffee doesn't smell good while roasting. The chaff will get everywhere, even with this machine's built-in chaff collectors. The machine is loud. It took a little bit of experimentation to get my roast exactly perfect, but after a few tries I was able to consistently churn out some of the best coffee I'd ever enjoyed....

Works great .Easy to use. Great people to work with.Read More
not a high end roaster but definitely gets the job done. I usually run two consecutive roasts since it handles only a small quantity.Read More
This roaster is a good replacement for pan or popcorn maker users who are looking to craft some simple roasts. The controls are easy to understand and as long as the machine is kept clean it is relatively smoke free. I used to pan roast my beans and I use this machine to prepare most of my single source roasts. Only a couple of drawbacks that are not critical to the amateur roaster: 1. None of the parts that will wear out can be replaced easily. The manufacturer does not supply them and, there are no after market suppliers for them. The manufacturer will sell you a replacement belt (turns the screw that stirs the beans) but, after years of use I so far haven't needed one. I do however need a replacement chaff screen and the silicon that seals the top. 2. the machine is very simple and complex temperature variations cannot be implemented. Generally, though, a good machine that gets used three or four times a month and has been for about four years.Read More
This roaster worked fairly well for 7.5 months= roasts very evenly but throws some chaff on the counter.. This morning it starting making a terrible noise just before the cooling cycle so I will be sorting this out with Nesco tomorrow.Read More
This is a good roaster and it is not anywhere near has smoky as all the others I've had. Roasts the beans very evenly (thanks to auger). Really good for light to City roasts. If you like darker roasts, you are going to want to use a drum roaster instead of this air roaster. Thats not a problem with this roaster but rather a difference in the types of technolgies out there.Read More
Very easy to use. Pretty much as easy as a hot air popcorn popper. I am new to roasting my own coffee, so it is a great starting roaster. I do wish it roasted a larger amount per batch, but still very worth it.Read More
We had the opportunity to try two other roasters before we selected this one. We'd skillet-roasted coffee for years but decided it was time to purchase a roaster. The first one we tried was quite small and the volume of coffee one could roast was meager plus it was very smoky. The second was better but very smoky and noisy. The Nesco Pro 800-watt Coffee Bean Roaster is an amazing roaster and will roast beans very dark. We purchase Peaberry beans, which are small, and dense so a roaster needs to be able to roast to the very dark roast we prefer. The only reason I gave this roaster a 4 star instead of a 5 star is the lid is not strong enough to hold and we have to put a weight on it to keep it from stopping the roast before it is finished and the roasting cylinder is difficult to clean. It is relatively quiet and smokeless which is very nice.Read More
This roaster is slow and steady.. I am using 30 minute cycles to get the roast I need. Its catalytic converter does indeed burn up all the smoke and it is fine to use indoors. the directions state it is required to clean the device after each use, which is not as easy as I'd like, and it makes a mess with little chaff pieces that fall down a grill that I cannot get to. Bit totally worth it for fresh roasted beans!Read More
Great roaster. Could be a little simpler to clean and operate but overall, super roaster.Read More
