These shade do not have the strings on them. They are push up/pull down shades. I loved the shades just like these with the strings on them to adjust. These I am not crazy about. Would recommend the others though.

I really like these shades. Contrary to some reviews they are not lined, but they are still very dark when closed. Not completely light blocking, but mostly light blocking. We had corded canvas shades before these and they didn't block enough light. It also drove me insane to wrap up a cord everytime I opened and closed them so my three year old was safe. I bought two of these for my dining room because I could try them before I bought them for the rest of the downstairs. They are good quality. One screw's bolt was stripped and we couldn't put it up but we found one in the basement that works. It was annoying but we made it work. So quality of hardware is not great. Once up there was one flaw in the wicker/straw that lets some light in through the middle of one shade, but it's to be expected with the natural material. Don't expect them to be flawless. Overall, I thought the value was exceptional so I did buy five more today for our living room. Can't wait for better light blocking for movie night and seconds of turning them up and down instead of minutes of winding cord. I am not sure I would buy these if I was constantly putting up and down (daily, for example) but I think they will hold up okay for weekly raising/lowering. Really like the look and it's hard to find cordless roman shades at $50 instead of over a hundred.

These may not be the top of the line shades but for the price they are outstanding! I purchased cordless wood shades from another company for double and they weren't lined. These are and really blacken the room when lowered. I raise and lower them every day and so far are holding up well. They also stay even. I will be ordering some for my remaining windows.

  • broke already

I bought two for my bedroom. They were easy to put up, but are quite a bit noisy when moved up or down (if that is a concern). Alse one just broke (used it for two months!) - in a way that it doesn't roll up whole. Top of it hangs over as if pull string broke (but there isn't one). Now half of my window is always covered. It is ok for now and they were cheap, but recommending it to others? I don't think so. They did look nice and worked well before that and no strings to deal with!

  • cordless and lined!!!!!!

I have 3 kids under 6 years of age and have been looking everywhere for bamboo shades that are truly cordless (no cords in front or back) and that have lining for privacy. Usually bamboo shades have no lining which is annoying if you use them in a bedroom or bath. These are great. Very easy to install. Sometimes the bottoms are not even but I can't say I would even deduct a star for that. Very happy that I found these here and plan on buying more!
