After reading all the other reviews I purchased this expecting it to show up half broken and told everyone to cross their fingers as I opened the box. I am happy to say that it arrived in perfect condition and was packaged very nicely. Yes, it is all metal but I don’t feel that the “rays” are any more flimsy then you would expect an item with this design to be. Any thicker and the weight would have been to much. I was able to easily hang this piece by myself (I’m a 5’ girl) using a step stool, measuring tape, pencil and a drill. Once I realized holding it by the mirror itself vs. the rays and allowing my fingerprints to get all over it (as another reviewer suggested), I was able to move it around the wall just fine. The “broken tips” mentioned in another review are every other tip and meant to be part of the design. The finish is uneven and multi colors just as the picture shows. It is more copper then any other color. The photo shows a yellowish in the center and it gets darker as it spans out…. that is not the case with mine. Mine is mostly copper and its possible each one could be a bit different due to the unique colors and how its made. Came with screws and anchors. Has only one hang hole so it’s easy to get it right the first time. The only thing that surprised me about this piece is that the rays shoot out and then there’s a hump and back down and out (think of a roller coaster hill.. you go up and then back down). The best place on the photo to see this is at the 3 o’clock position, that ray represents it best. I knew it wasn’t flat but I was a bit surprised by the size of the bumps. When I had it laying on the floor it reminded me of spider legs lol. A side view of it would be extremely helpful when deciding to purchase or not and it surprises me they don’t show one. Cost vs. Quality I think depends on your location within the US, I live in a Grand Rapids, MI and One Hundred Dollars for this item is a fantastic price! I could have easily spent much more on something similar at a local retailer. It is rustic.. maybe a little edgy and definitely creative but I would never describe it as flea market. However, everyone has a different opinion, as we should. I placed this above my fireplace in a room with 8’ ceilings. There is an approximate clearance of 5” on the top and 5” on the bottom. It’s the perfect size for this space.
I expected the frame to be as it is, but was expecting the actual mirror to be higher quality. I could have purchased a higher quality framed mirror on clearance at """ """"" """""" for less money with their %% off coupon.
I literally saw this same item in a local design store on "clearance" and it was even double the price! I am glad I found it on OS and feel like I got a steal! I've been trying to find accents to compliment my mid-century inspired condo. I hung this up above my bed and it pulls it in well. I've received compliments on it already. Packaging was great and delivery was quick. It comes with a screw and an anchor. Install was simple.
To answer someone's questions: the diameter of the mirror without the frame is about 21.5 inches. The thickness of the frame is about 1" where the mirror joins the wall. The middle "ring" of the frame juts out another 1". Thus if you are trying to squeeze this under some bathroom vanity lights, you need at least 2" of clearance. The frame is about 5" wide. The only problem with this mirror is the finish of the frame. The description says "antique silver" but it has very strong "old" gold tinges. It did not match any of my finishes, so I had to paint the frame-used a high quality brushed nickel spray paint that worked pretty well. Still that was a disappointment considering the cost of the mirror.
