So glad I bought this bookcase when it became available again. Super fast shipping. I got it within 2 days. Assemble was a breeze since there were sticker that number all the pieces. I put all the pieces together by myself and have my bf power drill the shelf on toward the end. A great piece of furniture for my study room
Great shelving! Easy to put together however EXTREME caution is needed when handling the shelves. There are notches cut into each corner of each shelf that fit into the metal "legs". I broke each piece off simply by picking up the shelves and trying to put into place. As always, Overstock customer service was wonderful and sent replacements within the week.
We were looking for specific dimensions as shoe cabinet had to fit in to our foyer closet - it had to be just the right hight and length so this cabinet fit the bill. It took about 2 weeks to rcv the item(shipping to Montreal) and once we got it it was super fast and easy to assamble. Shelves are easy to add/remove to accommodate shoe hight (which came in handy as most of my shoes are high tops)The item is exactly as shown on line and seems to be of good quality, nice and sturdy, I definitely recommend it !
This item is now finished, and stands next to my flat screen TV. While in the Army, during the Korean war, I was later stationed in England. Met and married a beautiful English girl. Had a son (now 52). Wife has passed on. This "phone booth", gives me nothing but good (however, a bit sad) memories. Thanks for the memories.
Was pleasantly surprised when I saw this product. It was one of the easiest assemblies I have ever done and I was able to do it without any assistance. And the quality is good, it looks much more expensive than it was. I am ordering a second cabinet to use for other storage - I will remove a shelf ( shelves) and possibly store handbags and/ or boots.
I would give it 3 and a half stars. It came well packaged and didn't have any scratches. Assembled together with husband, took us maybe 50 minutes. It looks nice but it's a bit flimsy and wobbly. I had to put pieces of cardboard under the front two legs so it wouldn't tip forward! Also it's more stable after we filled it with shoes. What can I say, it's not wood and particle board doesn't weigh much. For the price though, it's a great little cabinet. Looks great in my entry, and the shoe clutter is gone.
This 3 shelf unit is as good looking at pictured and described. I was intimidated at first with the assembly but I took a minute to look at the instructions and really common sense just by looking at it you can easily figure it out. I did not need help and it took me about an hour (with some interruptions). NOTE: when the shelf unit was empty just assembled and placed in a carpeted room I had doubts about its sturdiness specially that I wanted to place a heavy TV on it. But once filled with books, the weight made it all very sturdy and the TV was placed on top with no concerns. It is very functional, pretty, and great price. I may get a second one to place along the wall.
I've only had this set of shelves up for about 4 days and I love seeing it every time I pass thru the living room. 2 person job to put together and get moved, but even without directions it took maybe 20 minutes to put together (with a motorized drill, not the Allen wrench that comes with it). Color (I got the brown) is great, kind of distressed looking, metal part is a dark brown/oiled bronze. Very stable, sturdy, heavy piece. The one at **** looks almost identical for double the price of this one! Very happy with this purchase!
The delivery is great; the UPS brought it up to my apartment. The assembling direction work alright, and it took me almost 4 hours to put it together. I would say that the product works as it said, and looks good with the price, but it
isn't easy to assemble the whole thing by one person like me who weight 110 pounds with long finger nails, and isn't very fond of heavy duty chore.
The picture does not do justice to this media cabinet. It looks like much more expensive furniture. The different shelf configurations provide ample storage for many CDs and DVDs. Its length and depth allowed us to put two side by side in our hallway without taking much space. The assembly on the first cabinet was challenging; the second cabinet took very little time. All in all, a very nice piece of furniture and a good bargain, too. We highly recommend it.
Easily put together by one person with only rudimentary plan reading skills and "erector set" building experience. Made of manufactured wood products and it looks it but the quality of the cut makes it presentable. It's heft requires two people to mount on the wall; be sure to find a wall stud into which to anchor it.
I am very pleased with the purchase of this media cabinet. I was considering getting a lowboy type cabinet, but this has worked out better. There is much more storage and options to open or close the bottom part of the unit. The color is beautiful, a dark walnut brown. Once all put together, it is a very heavy and sturdy unit. It took me about 45 minutes to put together by myself. Furniture sliders come in handy if you have them.
I did run into a problem however. Once shipped to me, the very first step in putting it together, the main shelf was pre-drilled incorrectly on one side and not at all on the other, talk about frustrating! The instructions tell you to contact the manufacturer directly (Dimensions Furniture) and not who you purchased it from. So in this instance, I did not contact Overstock. However, Dimensions had the fastest and best customer service I've experienced. The correct shelf was at my doorstep within 48 hours. I could NOT believe that, I figure'd it would take weeks and headaches. I just contacted them on their website and they responded by email QUICK. No question but what was my address and BOOM, there it was. That was the only hiccup I had throughout the process. I was super impressed with the manufacturer.
The storage at the bottom is a great place to store vinyl records. Above is room for your stereo, record player, or whatever else you want to put in. The left side has an adjustable shelf with 3 preset positions. The back panel has 4 holes drilled out to run your cords through. Again, the color and finish is gorgeous. The hairpin legs give it that retro look.
If I could change a couple things with it, this is what I would do. I wish the depth was about 1.5" - 2" deeper. Width wise, you can fit flush your standard audio component (amplifier, receiver, cd player, dvd player, etc.). However once your speaker wires, hdmi cables, rca cables, etc are connected, it takes up another inch or two, so the front of my Outlaw Audio stereo receiver is jutting out about an inch (see picture). Not a deal breaker, but just saying if I was the designer........seems to be a common issue with furniture today, most are media cabinets are 15" deep when they need to be 17". But, most people don't buy old school stereo equipment that size anymore, so I do understand. Also, I would not mind 1 extra shelf on the left, but that's just my personal preference. I might make one myself in the future.
All in all, a wonderful edition to our home, and I am looking forward to many evenings relaxing and enjoying my new music setup.
*just to note, in the second picture there is a scratch under the stereo, it didn't ship that way. That was me not being careful putting my stereo in!
I bought the white version. Once I got the shelf assembled, it's perfect in the corner of my craft room. Pay close attention to the long pieces and which way they should face. Those pieces aren't labeled. I assembled the whole thing backwards at first so assembly took me about 2 hrs instead of 1. Otherwise, I would recommend buying this bookshelf!
Easy to assemble and looks like the image. The shelves are not solid wood however. They are a composite of cheap soft woods that you can dent with a fingernail, stained to look real. I've had this item for two months and the shelves are sturdy enough to hold a full shelf of books without bowing.
My husband had a cow as this little beauty took about 3 hours to put together, and it's made out of the cheapest material, but I was surprisingly happy with the look when finished: pretty color, clean lines, good design. It's far from an heirloom, but a good piece that will tide you over for a few years.
We bought this shoe cabinet but decided we'd use it as a home entertainment stand, we rearranged the shelves so they fit the dvds perfectly and xbox games. We seen this exact cabinet elsewhere for at least $30 more advertised than it was on Overstock. We are very happy with our purchase and will shop at Overstock again! :)
The product was delivered the day as promised. UPS brought it to my door . However, I had to bring it in by myself. I was home alone and was able to bring it in the house. However, it does weigh over 80 pounds. If you have to bring up stairs in my opinion there is no way you can do this unless you have help. The box is very large, heavy, and long so definitely have some help.
I attempted to assemble myself but quickly gave up as I realized this was much more harder than I thought. Overall the product took a little over two hours to assemble. My husband assembled it when he returned from work. What could of speed up the assembly process and made life a lot easier would have been better instructions. Several steps according to the instructions should have been prior to what they said. For example STEP 11 should be done way earlier, like step 2 or 3. Placing those brackets after the product is practically done is extremely difficult and not very well thought out. Parts #3 must be used in Step 7 but in the instructions they don't even mention it. You have to take it apart to add those little things on and that was frustrating. Also included is a bottle of glue, which we never used. So what is the glue for? It does not say in the instructions. Finally part E did not have the sticker on it, so we had to figure out which one was E.
Even though the assembly process was a pain, and time consuming the overall product once assembled is quite modern, elegant, and dare I say even attractive. I would recommend because for the price I believe you are getting a nice piece of furniture. It looks more expensive than what you paid. But have patience and get handy Mandy to help you cause I can see you throwing a hammer and drinking an entire bottle of wine trying to put this thing together by yourself.
I needed a cabinet for my shoes and this one works great! Very affordable but it doesn't look cheap at all and I was able to put it together all by myself. Holds about 12 pairs of shoes, mostly flats and low heels because you'd have to take out a shelf for higher heels. I'm using it as a nightstand and my husband liked it so much we got one for his side of the bed too. Great buy!
Unlike other reviewers, I received all the hardware and all the shelving as illustrated, nothing was missing. I even had one long shelf and a few screws left over after full assembly. No scratches or dents. Instructions were easy to read, although attaching the doors was a bit of a challenge. Took me about 2 hours to put together. All my CD's, DVD's and BluRay's fit with plenty of room to spare to grow my collection. The black finish matched perfectly with that of my entertainment center. I am very satisfied with the unit and it fit perfectly for the spot I intended it to go.
First of all, let's state the obvious - this product is NOT made of solid wood and you have to put it together yourself. However, anyone who reads the description will know that going into the purchase. Some reviewers seem to be disappointed by these facts and give the cabinet a low score based on these points, which doesn't make much sense to me.
That being said, the product went above and beyond my expectations. Assembly is definitely a two-man job, but we made it go faster by having a cordless drill to help with assembly. Mine came with all its parts (including the wood pieces) in flawless condition.
The finished project looks great in my living room. I have the entire cabinet filled (main structure and both doors) and I've seen no issues with steadiness or sturdiness. I'm pondering purchasing a second, since I've already maxed out the capacity in this one.
This bookcase looks really great but it's not exactly a "nice" piece of furniture. You get what you pay for - it's a bit rickety but perfect for our use in a kid's room. The piece of particle board that forms the back came pretty damaged and we had to creatively arrange the items inside to hide that.
The bookcase is a nice size to fit under a window. It is a slightly more orangey color than I would have liked and the veneer on the chipboard is very thin so there were some dings and chips but none serious enough to worry about, especially as I got it for a 4-year old's room. However, once assembled it feels sturdy and you can get a lot in it.
Beautiful piece of furniture - easy to assemble (about 45 minutes) and went together well. Color is quite lovely - a deep mocha that is "close" to black, but definitely a deep brown. Unit seems sturdy and when assembled as followed, should support just about anything - within reason, of course.
My wife & I purchased (2) of these units for our kitchen, and we love them - truly looks beautiful, and we are very happy.
Unit arrives in (2) large boxes and has instructions for assembly - basic tools needed, but very easy to assemble.
I bought this for my husband to use as a bar cart-yes I know it's a bookcase but it makes a nice masculine looking cart. He put all his beautiful crystal decanters on a tray on the top shelf. There was plenty of room for ice buckets, booze, and all the glasses. Let the PARTY begin!
These shelves are great looking, super well made, sturdy, and less money than you'd expect for this quality. I compare them to Pottery Barn and Restoration Hardware. Quality is similar, price is much better. I got the grey and it is so on trend right now. I was trying to match up to an old cabinet that I have in the room that has antiqued, punched pewter tin panels in it and this is a great match. I am using these in a craft studio to stylishly hold fabrics and other supplies. These are tall, long and will hold a lot, and I don't have to worry about the shelves collapsing, like with other, cheaper shelving units. I looked everywhere for just the right shelves, and know that you get what you pay for, so I waited for a good sale coupon and went for it. Shipping was free, and the delivery company was perfect...on time, polite, and efficient. I highly recommend!
From a bird's eye view on overstock this piece is a bit expensive considering the amount of raw materials involved. However the wooden boards are very heavy and high quality, I'd never believe they were not 1 piece real wood. It was very easy to assemble using only 1 single kind of screw, and it was up and running within 1hr!
Having read reviews beforehand, I was a little sceptical about purchasing, but my need to store my CD collection outweighed my caution - I was not disappointed. The package arrived within 7-10 days, the construction was completed by myself in a reasonable amount of time (an hour and a half in total - despite my DIY skills being minimal!), and the quality is fine and the build is sturdy enough to house most of my CD collection - I like the fully (!) adjustable shelves (not like on some other advertised products, as my collection includes CD cases of many different shapes and sizes, only one of which I could not fit in without the rest of the cabinet looking odd; it holds well over 1000 CD's. My only two criticisms are a) the case frontage columns conceal from view the first and last CD on each shelf (overcome by placing an empty CD jewel case at each end of each shelf) which could be a nuisance, and b) a little more aesthetic/practical thought could have been put into the wall fixing that stops the cabinet from falling over - I haven't had any problems with the unit tipping forward. It looks good, and thoroughly suits my purpose - my only problem is that, as this was the largest available, I will have to order another 'sister' unit to house my remaining 200-odd CD's! I would recommend this product.
The cabinet is sturdy and looks really nice especially for the price. It is pretty dark, and doesn't have any red tones---so not sure why that is in the name. Nontheless, it look nice and was very easy to put togther (just very repetitive). Tip....use a electric scredriver becauase there are lots of screws in this bad boy). For the most part, the cabinet looks of better quality (more expensive) than it is, however there is one tell-tell flaw that gives it away up close and that is the faux finish "stickers" that you are to put over the NUMEROUS screw holes that are each about the size of a dime. These stickers are easy to spot in the light and on the outer sides of the cabinet. They wil not go unoticed to anyone who lingers long enough to look at what your have displayed. In this respect Ikea has got this piece beat. Overall though I would say its a good deal for the money and is a substantial addition for a less substantial price.
The shelf looks nice and serves my purpose, I but it should be made of pine or another lightweight wood since it will be mounted on a wall. It is so heavy and makes lifting and hanging it very hard. Why this type of manufactured wood is used so much is beyond me. I don't think pine planks could cost any more to construct it. Are you listening, manufacturers?
I read the reviews and the tips from others who assembled these shelves. One I did not read will be a big help to putting these together quickly and easily. We assembled the side pieces to the top shelf, per instructions, adding each additional shelf in order. the closer we got to the bottom, the more difficult it became to fir in the shelves. Our suggestion is to assemble the bottom shelf after the top one, thereby relieving the tension, and spreading out the side pieces properly. Then assemble the rest of the shelves from the top down, and tighten all screws after assembly is complete. You will still find that the overhang varies on the shelves, but they're too beautiful to notice.
My wood shelves came with some damage, so examine the shelves carefully before assembly, so nicks can be hidden. It was too much trouble to wait for replacements. There are levelers on the shelf units, and the first unit was perfectly level upon assembly, but we were never able to properly level the second. A felt pad on one leg helped. The shelving units are stunning against my teal study walls.
Nice book case for this price, quality is okay, however, it has so many screws that it took me several hours just screw and attach everything. I like that its narrow, perfect for a small space area! The shelves are deep enough for two rows of books.
