I like this tool because you can grind up any meat easily. These days the stores sell a lot of lean meat that do not contain much fat which make the good flavor. It helps me to put additional fat and grind it the way I like so it is very helpful for me. Just be careful not to scratch your table as a holding base, and wash the inner parts and dry them quickly before they rust. That happens very fast.
This slicer is pretty well made for the price, and since I had a lot of Rewards points to use, I figured it would be fine. The slider table is fairly stable but not the smoothest. Putting a little food-grade lubricant on the sliding guide underneath does help and doesn't get on the food. It's powerful and the smooth-edged blade is sharp and does not shred or tear up meats or cheeses like some of the serrated blades do. Overall, it does a good job, however this is not a smaller countertop device you can leave out, like a Chef's Choice. This is a LARGE format slicer; about half of the size of a commercial unit, so it's not exactly countertop friendly. You'll need adequate space to store it. It's a bit loud, like most, and it is frankly a pain to clean so I only use it for large quantities of larger format roasts and turkey breasts. The instructions are scant and almost useless, so you almost have to figure it out on your own. For regular use, a Chef's Choice or smaller blade size unit would probably be a better choice. I like it, but not sure it will suit most people due to the size. If you regularly process large amounts of meat or cheese, this works well. But for occasional home kitchen use I would probably NOT recommend it. Get something smaller.
