It is so nice to pick up a product that is as well manufactured as this Salsbury Mailbox. Every detail is far above average, and the construction is completely solid. A pleasure to install.
It's not at all obvious that this is a multi-mailbox mounting post... not a single mailbox post. It is meant to mount 2, 3 or 4 mailboxes. The arms of the post are meant to be parallel with the road - not perpendicular. When you buy the matching mailbox, the corresponding mounting holes means that you will have to mount the mailbox perpendicular to the post arm (not in-line). Also, if you do want to mount multiple mailboxes, you must also purchase a separate adapter kit (or kits). None of this information is readily apparent but it should be. For this reason I give it 3-stars. Otherwise it would be a five. The overall quality is excellent. With an additional 4 holes I put in my mailbox, everything mounted like I wanted it to. It's very solid overall with a look and feel like a high-end commercial-quality mailbox. Just be aware of what you're buying and how it's designed to be mounted.
I really needed a very secure mailbox after recent mail thefts in my area. I did extensive research on numerous websites, in addition to manufacturer's websites and decided on this mailbox for the following reasons: This mailbox is USPS approved. I don't require my mailbox to be 'Fort Knox-like'...that's overkill for me. I just need a secure mailbox, that locks and has the ability to keep vandals out. It's a really good looking mailbox with a very modern look. I couldn't be happier with my choice and the price on Overstock was better than any other website that I've compared. As in the past, Overstock was amazing to deal with. My mailbox showed up in the Manufacturer's box and was delivered two days later. This is why I always check Overstock first and keep coming back to them. I highly recommend this product. I'm very happy.
This mailbox post is designed to put the mailbox on the left of the post. It looks sideways when set-up. It is very strange, but you cannot mount the mailbox how you would think it should be, with the post arm facing the street; it faces to the left. The mailbox actually sits parallel to the post, not perpendicular to it. Very strange set-up. I wish the picture of the post actually had a mailbox in it, I would have never bought it.
