Lovely for any occasion
I am replacing a ragtag collection of "remainders" from previous sets. I decided against lead crystal as I want something I can use often, and I have cleaned lead residue off of lead crystal enough to think that might be a problem. But I still wanted crystal characteristics - the ring, clarity, and beauty - so, there are a number of varieties of lead-free crystal, and this is one. I like the look of blown glass and the thin lips for drinking. These are beautiful, simple smooth lines, thin lip, tall slim stem, nice balance. They are tall, but not so tall as to be clumsy to use, or to look out of proportion with either my classic china, or my casual stoneware. This Bormioli line which includes several other stems that I also use - including a Port glass! Yea! I have just discovered. I actually selected this line for it's beautiful Bourgogne glasses and Bordeaux glasses - which I use most - and the fact that they have a full line with Chardonnay, champagne and port glasses, so I will have all the types I will use, 1 style, BONUS! These have an interesting glass distortion toward the center of each glass, but it is consistent - all the champagnes are that way, so not a flaw, a feature resulting from their process. I also like that this is a stable company, and many reviewers mention that the line is stable and has been available for replacement glasses, as breakage is inevitable. They are not outrageously expensive, so I can use them whenever I want to feel a bit special. They arrived very well packed, all intact, and in beautiful boxes that are gift-worthy. Anyone would be delighted to receive these foe a housewarming or wedding gift. Or as I am, refitting and replacing sets with missing pieces that no longer have replacements available.
