Item matches photo well. Construction is veneer over MDF. Arrives in two boxes totaling about 120 pounds. Packed reasonably well with styrofoam, but parts are heavy and rough handling could cause them to rip through the foam. Instructions were adequate, but should be reviewed carefully and thoroughly. Only the base comes partially assembled and had to be redone because the majority of the screws had been over-tightened at the factory and had stripped the holes. Had to put wood glue in the holes and re-do. I'm handy and mechanically inclined, but assembly took about 4 hours. Don't over-tighten the screws because they will wallow out the MDF pretty easily. Only significant disappointment was that holes were not pre-drilled for the drawer glides. Instead, there are rough indentations where the drawer glide screws should go. These indentations aren't precise enough to install the drawer glides so the drawer fronts won't rub against the cabinet frame. If I had known this beforehand, I would have made my own measurements and located where the drawer glides should go before pre-driling my own holes. Hardware for the sliding door is thin plastic. Will have to see if this holds up over time. Assembly issues and plastic door hardware aside, it's worth what I paid and will serve the purpose. Other reviewers complained about the legs being inadequate and they are far apart. Too early to tell whether this will be a problem, but I don't plan on putting a TV directly on the cabinet. It's possible that the wide placement of the legs might cause the entire cabinet to sag in the middle over time. If that happens, the sliding door and drawers will probably jam.
I bought this table because I really like the way it looks. I like light wood. I got it yesterday. I asked question about MDF did not get an answer. The packaging was very messy and seams were just about falling apart. I had to open it outside. Putting the table together is simple enough but the BOLTS are so poorly done that all of them do not fit thus now I have a trip to Home Depot. Do not be fooled the legs that look like wood are covered with wood looking contact parer. I still like the look but doubt that this will last beyond a year. I'm still wondering what MDF means.
Be sure to read the dimensions on this coffee table or you may be disappointed on it's smaller size. I live in an apartment and love that it's a bit smaller as my living room is smaller. I've now owned this table for over 2 years. I was concerned initially that it wouldn't hold up because it is just woodgrain laminate over MDF material, but it has not come off or scratched.
Assembly wasn't too difficult, however I recommend a second set of hands while hanging the doors. MDF construction as you would expect for the price. Color is more of a light cherry color, not espresso, but I can live with it.
