I looked for a ceiling fan that would enhance a traditional LR/DR in my new condo. For the most part this works. However ... the finish is not really bronze, but a very, shiny metallic-brown ... similar to the mirrored finish on an automobile.
Also, it does not come with a remote as stated in the description. You will have to add one.
The fan blades are not wooden as described but stamped sheet metal with a wood-look painted finish. The crystals strands on the light kit have to be painstakingly attached. One end of a strand has a coiled metal ring similar to that of a key chain and needs to be guided through one of the small holes on the rim. The other end has a straight wire which once inserted in its corresponding hole is bent into place like a hook.
The crystals are linked together with a silver colored wire. The base of the light kit is chrome colored and is has a partial pull chain inserted. The rest of the chain length and the decorative amber-colored pull came packaged separately.
I am planning to apply a bronze patina to the metal on the body and the light kit as the existing finish will not work with my antique art and furnishings.
I like the fact that the chandelier bulbs are old fashioned incandescent and not halogen, etc.
I like the concept of the fan. I just wish it had been further developed.
My mom had been scouring Overstock for just the right light fixture for my living room. When this one showed up in my inbox I knew it was perfect.
The fixture is beautiful, was packaged very well and included extra hardware. The fixture directs light both up to the ceiling and down through the shade, which was exactly what I wanted and from directly underneath, it sort of looks like a spaceship.
Installation was a little tricky to do by myself, but I am smarter than the average girl so of course I worked it out! Trickiest part was attaching the ring with the shade inside of it to the top half of the fixture that had already been mounted to the ceiling.
My Install Tip: Leave the shade out and partially screw on only one of the four posts with the ring swiveled to the outside of the fixture. Then put the shade in the ring and swivel the ring & shade into position and screw on the opposite post. Once you are no longer in danger dropping anything, you can tighten the remaining posts.
This is a very nice 'knock off' of a 600$ Ballard Designs chandelier- it's almost identical in size to the large Ballard one as well. It looks great over my 54 in round kitchen table- definitely 'statement' fixture. The first one we ordered had a defect with the central part where all the arms meet- however I called Overstock and they shipped a new one right away. It casts really neat shadows on the ceiling, and gives off a ton of light. At times it does look a little crooked but it is easily adjustable. The finish is definitely a vintage (darker) silver, not a bright silver, so it doesn't look too 'bling'. It's easily installed and has the locking pieces on both ends of the chain that make it easier to hang. Overall, we love it!
We bought two of these to go over our island in our kitchen remodel. They look amazing! Our contractor assembled and hung them. He didn't use the little hangers for the crystals, he just fastened the string of crystals directly on so they wouldn't fall off changing a light bulb. Works fantastic and love the bling!
Love, Love, Love this Fixture. Ordered This One to Go Over My Kitchen Sink Area, and the Sister Fixture to go in My Foyer. Both are Absolutely Stunning and I have Received So............ Many Compliments.
I bought 2 white lamps. Perfect size and love the texture but unfortunately the shades are not bright white like the bases. Had to buy 2 new shades. Not thrilled about the added expense but they look perfect now. I'm very happy with the outcome.
I purchased this light fixture to replace an outdated fixture in a home I had just purchased 2 years ago. It is a great style but I have 2 small problems with it; the shade is a little too translucent so you can see the shapes of the bulbs through it more than I'd like and you have to wear gloves when touching the shade or the oils in your hands will leave marks on the frosted glass.
Bought this fixture and installed it (no problem). It looks far more expensive than it was and gives great light for a small room. I used it in a 3x4 bathroom over a small mirror. I have chrome fixtures (faucet, towel bar, toilet paper holder), and this light looks great with them.
So is this lamp gold/silver...i think it depends on your room really. I have this lamp in my "formal" living room (wall is goldish/beige) and the lamp reads gold and silver. I think if it were in my blue bedroom it would read less gold. Either way it is a very substantial lamp. Our house is more transitional/traditional and it fits right in. The shade is definitely a sateen beige/linen-NOT white if that makes a difference to you. It is beautiful and looks very comparable to the high end company that sells these at a higher price. I'm glad I took a chance with this lamp. Also, I did read the dimensions but when I pulled it out of the box I thought 'this lamp is huge!' It works well where it is but double check for your own sake:)
The chandelier looks just like it does in the picture. The white shade is plastic on the inside but fabric on the outside giving it a nice texture. The metal exterior shade has a good weight to it and looks substantial. The circles in the outer shade are nicely cut giving it a clean appearance. With three 60 watt bulbs (the maximum) it casts a very nice warm light and illuminates the space effectively. On the bottom of the shade is a plastic cover which helps diffuse the light so that you are not staring at the bulbs inside. Although plastic when hung looks like glass. We hung it in our office for a contemporary look and it fits both form and function. My husband installed the light with minimal expletives and it took only around twenty minutes to install.
These pendant lights are absolutely beautiful. The only change I would make is to the cord. It looks more like a wire rope while I would have preferred a metal rod. I also did not receive the LED bulbs with my order. However, I would definitely purchase these again.
