chain pulls on these lamps are made to be used sparingly. they break off easy. i have replaced all of these lamps light sockets with knob style switches that last longer. the lamps are not high budget and built that way. wobbly bases that are not easy to tighten up.
The tips on the bottom are very sharp so I had to purchase some rubber furniture glides so my new side tables didn't get eaten up. My lamps had several scratches that I'll need to repair. I hate the on/off switch being far down on the cord and not right on the light socket--I may change those out too. The overall look is real nice though.
This is the second set I ordered, each time there was one lamp damaged. I had to purchase a new socket and switch and repair the lamps. They look nice. Another lamp had the top piece (stem) broken off and I had to weld it with super glue to allow the shade to be mounted firmly without the socket and all to fly around by the cord..
Just what I was looking for. I bought these lamps for my bedroom they are just the right size for nightstands. I have ordered a new sockets and switches for them only because I want a three-way bulb and a pull chain switch. They would be perfectly fine the way they are I just feel it would be more convenient to have the pull chain.
