  • 4 years and still running great.

Very happy with this purchase. No problems after 4 years of use. I did have to raise it 12 inches to put larger container under spout. Will pull over a gallon of humidity from air in living room in just a few hours.

  • Great A/C so far!
    Verified Purchase

A/C works very well. not sure about the energy saver mode, but when on cool the machine keeps the temp right at the desired setting. Definitely will want to run a drain hose because the water tank fills up very quickly. Sometimes 2-3 times per day when its hot and humid. Not a big deal but in the middle of the night its kinda annoying. also keep the machine level. if it is tilted the full sensor on the water collection tank can be prematurely triggered and the machine will stop (FL) and it will have to be drained to restart.

Runs well, cools very well. Careful with the drain plug or you might end up with water everywhere.

  • keeps my basement nice n dry
    Verified Purchase

Great product for my 800 square ft basement that had humidity issues. Keeps the air at a comfortable level, especially for my spare bedroom and laundry areas of my older home (1928 bungalow) in a pretty moist area of the country.

I bought this refurb. unit 2.5 years ago. Worked fine for lower humidity summer months; stopped venting condensation Aug. I had to hook to a tube & drain downward, which means to a bucket on basement steps because the drain hole is about 1 inch from the floor. Next spring I invoked the warranty I purchased with the unit. Repair guy said there was nothing wrong with the unit, that no unit would vent condensation when humidity was high (I have since purchased 3 other units and they all work as advertised). Here's how I make it work: i built a makeshift enclosed platform to the measurements of the wheels with a stop so it does not roll off; put a tilt-up door on the front, hole the size of my drain tube in the back, plastic tub inside, going to add water spill alarm. I do not depend on the ac tank that only holds about 1c to < 1 pint (that is why the "full" alarm is always going off for other reviewers). I did get a new vent hose from the repair company 'cuz the original hardens after about 1.5 years.

  • Very Disappointing

I have purchased refurbished items before without issue. I chose this model because of the LG brand and the Overstock guarantee. Unfortunately, the unit did not perform consistently and had to be returned. The unit would blow cool air then warm air and then cool air. I had piped out the condensation water, so that was not the issue, although the tray they give you is really small. Overall, I would stay away from this unit. I am planning to purchase another unit (a new one) from Overstock.

  • LG Electronics LP1210BXR Review

The only thing wrong with this unit is the built in dehumidifier has a water resivour that is VERY small. The resivour will fill up in anywhere from 3 hours to 24 hours, depending on your relative humidity and AC settings. Once the resivour is full, the unit will stay on, but not fuction. It emits a lovely beeping noise unit you unplug it and take it outside to drain (50 lb. a/c Ide guess). If you dont enjoy a sound nights sleep or a constant regimine of taking your AC to the shower/deck to drain, I'de look elsewhere for an AC. The oscilation feature also decided to stop working about 2 weeks into instalation. The window vent is pretty flimsy. The remote control works well.

  • So far, it is doing what I expected
    Verified Purchase

I have used this unit for a little relief from unusual high heat and humidity in northern NY. In a small bedroom it cools quite efficiently but not so in a larger area. However it is good at lowering the humidity in the room which makes it more comfortable and I have not had to dump the water pan often. The exhaust hose gets very hot when in use. Not sure if this is typical or not. I also think it is louder than my window unit.

  • A dream come true
    Verified Purchase

I have wanted an AC unit for years and finally splurged on one. It was SO worth it. It makes a huge difference in our 3rd story bedroom. It was easy to install....I did it myself because my boyfriend wanted to wait til August to install and I did not! I love the timer, it's great to set it for an hour or two. It cools the bedroom wonderfully. Just what I was looking for. Very happy with this purchase.

Questions & Answers

  • Q:

"Where can I buy a replacement exhaust hose and the plastic window kit? Mine broke and I can't find replacements anywhere!"

    • A:

Hello muffin, you are welcome to reach out to customer care at 1-800-The-BIG-O (843-2446) for further assistance. Thanks for shopping with us!

  • Q:

"It's hot n humid here in chicago Tonight. I just installed my unit for the first time, it's releasing little splats of water, (not much) but some. Is it the floor...."

    • A:

Hello mentheboys123, items are restocked as they become available; however we cannot guarantee an item will be restocked. Thank you for shopping with us.

  • Q:

"What are the window kit dimensions and are there extensions available? I'll be using it in a sliding glass door. How long is the exhaust hose and can a longer one be used? Is there a drain hose? Where does the condensation go?"

    • A:

Hello jjeepers, This air conditioner is the perfect way to cool you down! The widest the window kit can slide out to is 3 feet and we don’t sell additional extensions. The exhaust hose can be stretched to 6 feet and again, we don’t sell extensions but if you can find one you should be able to use it, as long as you can connect it to the exhaust vent on the back of the unit. The drain hose/garden hose must be purchased separately and is not included with purchase. All portable A/Cs have an internal bucket that is built in and not accessible without dismantling the outside casing. I hope this information helps. Thanks for shopping with us.

  • Q:

"How many WATTS does this AC pull?"

  • Q:

"what are you venting if it is self evaporating"

    • A:

Thank you for contacting us gattie01. All A/Cs have compressors inside which sucks in the air within the room, runs it through the compressor to condense it, and lowers the temperature of the air before blowing it out into the room. In order to condense the air and blow it out of the front of the unit, the unit will create an equal amount of hot air that will blow out of the back of the unit which must be vented out. Also, during this process, the compressor will create excess water because it is condensing the air from a larger volume to a smaller volume. The Self Evaporating Feature has to do with the accumulated water that forms when running a compressor, and does not have anything to do with venting. It is basically fans within the inside of the unit that will run to help evaporate the water as it is being accumulated. However, depending on how humid the room is and how long the A/C is running, the evaporating feature might not be able to keep up with the amount of water being accumulated within the unit, which means you would have to drain the A/C if the interior bucket is full. Please let us know if you have any further questions.

  • Q:

"In product details, it says "Self-evaporation system means no bucket to empty for simple maintenance ". If there is no container to empty, why are people complaining about having to empty the container? I have seen the same type of comments on other sites relative to this unit."

    • A:

Hi 1swamplily, Self-evaporation system means no bucket to empty for simple maintenance. Maybe they were referring to another model. Thanks for your interest, hope this helps!

  • Q:

"Based on what I can see from the diagram these units are for windows opening side to side - mine opens up from the bottom that's why there's so much area to cover. Do you think this unit will work for my apartment?"

    • A:

The only thing that goes through the window is the vent hose, so it does not matter how the window opens. This is a portable unit, not a window mount. It just needs to be vented out of a window.

  • Q:

"I have a 6 ft wide window - will the flaps accomodate such width? I purchased a unit previously, only 18" of materials - not enough - company would NOT supply more - had to send unit back. Before I make another purchase just want to be certain I'll have enough to cover my window. Thanks"

  • Q:

"Looking at the LG portable A/C. What is considered a refurbished unit?"

    • A:

Refurbished units are the products which manufacturers restored to an as-new condition.

  • Q:

    "what is the warrenty?"

    • A:

This item is covered with a 90-day limited warranty by GCR Corporation. If damaged on arrival, the product must be returned for replacement at the buyer''s cost. A refund or exchange is offered, with no provision for in-home service.
