  • Buyer Beware
    Verified Purchase

I would like to let you know to beware on buying this product. When we first got this AC unit in April 2011 it did not seem to work all that great but it worked. Recently it has not been cooling our bedroom. Just last night we got a E3 error. Contacted overstock and they told me to contact LG. when I did they told me that the error means that it would need to be serviced. When they looked up the s/n they said the unit was service before and the warranty was used. They said I would have to pay for repair. I have only had this unit for 4 months. And now I am out the money I paid for it. So I must say buyer beware.

  • Super powerful, works great
    Verified Purchase

Love this air conditioner!! I bought it for my non-air conditioned Manhattan apartment. It is very powerful and cools down my large living room quickly. It senses the temperature and will auto shut-off when it reaches your desired temp. It also has a timer you can set so you come home to a cool apartment without leaving it on all day. It was easy to assemble (and I'm not even good at building things). It isn't particularly quiet, but it works sooo well that I don't even care.

  • LG LP0910WNR AIR CONDITIONER
    Verified Purchase

I purchased this portable AC unit, my first, to cool my bedroom only. The main unit on the roof is not cooling as well as it used to. It is advertised as quiet running, afraid not! The fan is nosier than I thought it would be but my dog and I are getting used to it. Also the difference in speed from hi to low fan is practically zero. It is also advertised as self evaporating and not requiring a bucket to empty. It does not have a removable bucket but does have a drain plug in the back for when it does get full on hi humidity days. If it fills the compressor will shut down and a code P2 will appear on the screen. So far even though we are in our so called monsoon here in Phoenix there has not been much water collecting to empty. The water that does is used to help cool the compressor. When the compressor kicks on and off there is a good size thump sound that sometimes startles my dog. The unit fan puts out a lot of air and is the main source of noise. The louvers to direct the air are adjustable up and down. It also has four castor wheels for easy moving around though I do not plan on doing that. Be aware that the exhaust hose has a plastic adapter on both ends to connect to the window panel and the unit exhaust port. This hose is 6 inches in diameter and is expandable like an accordion to over 50 inches. The window adapter worked fine on my horizontal sliding window except for the top 9 inches that required a piece of cardboard. It does not do as good a job of removing humidity as the main AC but when I open the bedroom door to the hallway it feels better. So for the refurbished price,$240, plus a 2 year extended warranty,$22,I think I got a good deal.

  • Good For Specific Uses
    Verified Purchase

Bought this 9,000 btu for an extra a/c in my bedroom area at night during hot, hot AZ summers. It does put out cold air, but not as efficiently as my 8,000 btu window model and only in a narrow forward direction. The reason I don't give it full 5 stars is the unwieldy exhaust hose setup (6" diameter x 5' long) that must be attached to discharge generated hot air out a window opening. It's not insulated and gets really hot, radiating that heat back into the room, reducing your total cooling effect. I finally cut mine down to the shortest usable length and wrapped it with non-fibreglas duct insulation material to mitigate this negative effect. Best uses would be a small room in a moderately hot climate when you can't use a window type a/c. Positive is the wheels that let you move it around without strain. One thing that confused me at first was when you initially set the cooling temp it seems to jump back to a higher one. That's because the digital is showing the actual room temperature and will move down as the air around it cools off.

  • A Workhorse of Cool
    Verified Purchase

This is neither my first LG portable A/C, nor my first model LP0910WNR. The last one gave out after 2 years of hard use, and I couldn't find anyone who would repair it. The sealed system had failed, and it no longer cooled. The thought of risking hundreds on a repair that might not "take" daunted me. Then I found refurbished units on Overstock, and at a price comparable to repairing the previous unit. It was a near perfect deal, save that I'd have loved to give them my old one to try to "save" through refurbishing as well, but they don't take units that way. The new unit came - regrettably - at the start of a long and rare Los Angeles cold snap, so it took me weeks to get the opportunity to give it a workout. The "new" one works as great as my old one did for so many hot months! It's a nice little unit for my small 10x10 studio. It vents cleanly and simply through a flexible pipe to a window mount which I tape up to seal the environment. It has a nice remote control that adjusts virtually every setting from range. And, though not exactly quiet, it's bearable and blissfully cool. If you buy one, however, be warned: there is a second air filter HIDDEN BEHIND THE FIRST AIR FILTER!!! O.O This is likely the cause of my first unit's failure, as I had no idea the second filter even existed and needed to be cleaned. You can see it in the illustration in the manual, but all references to "air filter" are SINGULAR there, which is misleading. If you buy one of these, FIND THAT SECOND FILTER and keep it clean as well!

The machine does what it's supposed to do: it cools the room. I'm less than thrilled with the functionality of the controls. The "auto" setting appears to only work with a preset temperature of 78 degrees. If you want a cooler or warmer temperature, you must use the "manual" setting. I would like the option for the machine to completely shut down when the compressor is not running. Again, I thought that's what the "auto" setting would do; it does not. There is a "continuous" setting on the remote that I thought might address the issue; it does not. The timer function does work well. The instruction manual is virtually useless. It reads as though it is a verbatim translation from a different language. For the most part, it makes no sense.

  • Good backup unit
    Verified Purchase

I bought this unit to replace a window air conditioner that I had for emergency in case of a power outage and I had to use my generator. Ran the unit for an hour and it was able to bring the bedroom, down from 78 degrees to 72 degrees. No water came out of drain when I removed cap. It would be nice if it had a place to put remote (a snap in remote holder). Had to stick in front vent. Hope it will work well when I really need it. Window slide went together pretty easily. Have not used foam seal yet that it came with. Unit is a good looking unit. We have an LG refrigerator and they make a quality unit. Fan is a little noisy but that can be expected. Hope I don't have to use it in the near future but it's ready to go.

  • It all worked out in the end
    Verified Purchase

I bought 2 of these units because I moved and my window units didn't fit in the windows here. One unit has performed like a charm from day one. The other unit came on once and then the electric control panel died....I had to unplug it to shut it off. Customer service promptly issued a return label. The replacement unit was a tiny bit late arriving so I called...there had been confusion regarding when it would ship. That got straightened out and it got here quickly. The second one has been in use without trouble. I don't use the timer modes....just on/off. I would say they work well. I have not had trouble with the reservoir....though, while it has been hot here, the humidity has been low. The part that goes in the window is kind of flimsy but works, and was easy to install. Having said that, if I had my druthers, I would rather have a window unit. These crank out cold air enough to really cool the room that it is in but no more area. 2 of my window units used to cool the whole living area of my old house and that was more square footage and less insulated....and they had less BTUs besides. I like having access to and a view from the windows. However, my house is small and these portable units take up a bit of floor space. I haven't had an electric bill yet so I can't speak to the cost of running them. Under the circumstances, I am glad I got them. I have cool refuge areas in the house. I feel I got a very good bargain.....I would have paid considerably more locally. The company was quick to ship. Overstock customer service handled my problem quickly and courteously.

  • So far so good!
    Verified Purchase

Bought this unit about 1 month ago and so far so good! I was a bit skeptical buying a refurbished AC unit but the price was very reasonable and it works great. I am using it in my bonus room above the garage as supplement AC. The room itself is 500 sq. ft. and this unit says it will cool up to around half that, but it is cooling the entire room remarkably well. Only takes a few minutes to feel the temperature start to drop in the room. It is a bit on the noisy side but that is to be expected. It was not too difficult to install, just follow the instructions and it shouldn't take more than 20-30 minutes. It is nice to have an extra set of hands helping out if possible. The unit has some cool features: Temperature gauge, Cooling & Fan modes, Timer set, and digital read-out. If you are able to place a small chair or other piece of furniture in front of the unit (to hide the tubing running from the unit to the window) then you almost never even know it is there. Much easier to look at then a window unit. I recommend this unit along with the 2 or 4 year warranty. I bought the 4 yr warranty and have piece of mind in case it does break.

  • Do Not Buy!

This thing is a joke, more like an expensive fan than an air onditioner. If you want to spend every night dragging this unit outdoors to empty the water that keeps filling up (if you try to empty it from the spout, it omes out all over the floor instead from every vent opening), if you want to burn electricity but not cool atiny room but about 1/2 a foot away from the unit, and if you don't want to be able to hear yourself think (it's loud!), then buy this. I even called a local chain home store and asked their a/c guy about this (they carry it, too), and he said it's junk and he doesn't know why stores still carry it. So be warned..!

  • Perfect Air Conditioner
    Verified Purchase

After doing a lot of searches for portable air conditioners, I found this one and the specs looked good enough. Ordering was fast, set up was super easy, and the air is SUPER cold. It's been running for about a month and we've only changed the water once. A lot of reviewers say it is loud but its no more louder than other air conditioners, not something you would notice if you weren't trying. All in all it's exactly what was needed for an average sized livingroom.

The ac really cools the room off very quickly. It has a nice remote and several nifty features such as a timer and a sleep selection. I have had to empty it one time and just a little water has leaked on my floor. My only problem is it seems loud. I guess that makes sense sense all the moving parts are in the room, but I have another unit (different brand) that does not seem so loud. I am just not sure if it will work out in my sleeping room.

This product was pretty easy to set up, and although it is refurbished appears as if it is brand new. It is very loud, my daughter feels, but it does start pumping out cold air just seconds after it is turned on. Her room is about 12 X 15 and by the time she wakes up the thermometer on it indicates her room is 70 degrees, and that's with leaving the door to her room open (we need it to help cool the adjoining sitting room also a bit). It has not leaked or left any puddles anywhere so I guess whatever moisture it extracts is evaporating quickly so that is great. Overall it has been a very positive experience for my first portable air conditioning unit.

  • Air conditioner is mediocre

Not sure if it has anything to do with being reconditioned, but it will not stay on and continually cool the room. The button has to be turned off and on several times for it to work. This process has to be repeated throughout the night for it to cool the air. I do not recommend this air conditioner.

This is a good air conditioner. It cools the room of quickly. I did have to replace some of the parts (the hose and the window attachment) that did not seem to hold up to the sun exposure in my office and cracked. However, easy and cheap replacements and the unit works well.

Central air conditioning is not standard in the region I live as it is just not usually required. Recently, this summer, the weather has been very hot and having to sleep during the day for night shift, I had to purchase a portable air conditioner. This model has been a great purchase. Easy to install with window kit and uncomplicated operation. It is a bit noisy, but no more than similar products and actually it soon became just like a white noise in my bedroom and actually helped sleep - in my experience. It looks modern and sleek and my anxiety at ordering a refurbished model and saving some money was not warranted. It arrived in as new condition and has worked perfectly.

"I bought this last year, now I have lost the manual, isn't there a 'de-humidifier' mode, that does not require the window thing to be hooked up? I remember reading it was not necessary for some second mode,,. thank you!"

    • A:

ALSO: I finally found the manual online and sure enough the Hose is NOT NEEDED in DRY mode! See below: "Under Dry mode, don't install exhaust hose, take out the drain plug, and lead the condensing water to the container through water pipe" BUT I am Unsure what it means by "lead the condensing water to the container through water pipe!" Perhaps this is Chinese for 'Put a Pan under to Catch the Water'?

Hello cantica! This air conditioner has received excellent reviews! The unit has casters/wheels on the bottom which will make it easy to move over hardwood floors and carpet. If you want to move the unit up and down the stairs, there are convenient handles on the sides of the unit which they can use to carry it. However, the unit is somewhere around 60 lbs, so we wouldn’t recommend you do it alone unless you are confident they can lift the unit up or down a flight of stairs. The EER is 9.2, and the dB Level is 55. I hope this helps. Thanks for shopping with us.

"I have a window that slides from side to side, not up and down. Will the window kit still be compatible?"

    • A:

Yes absolutely the kit is about 5 inches wide and it has tubing that reaches up to it the tubing just clicks into a hole in the kit. You don't need anything special to put the kit in either. I use this in a window that doesn't open side to side or up and down but outward and it still works great for that

    • A:

I installed one in a similar window, very easy to use. I have a gap at the top, I have tall windows, but its easily fixed with a piece of cardboard.
