  • Produces High Quality Juice -- and Quietly!

Kuvings NS-950 Chrome Masticating Silent Slow Juicer Review This is my first quality juicer. In the past I had cheap centrifugal juicers. For a long time I have wanted a masticating juicer that would better preserve the enzymes of the juice, and I finally got this one. I am not mechanically inclined. On the day the juicer arrived, I slowly and carefully read the instruction manual and identified the various pieces of the juicer. I took apart the pieces and washed them in lukewarm water. I then let them dry overnight. (The instructions say not to wash in hot water. In truth, no plastic kitchenware should be washed in hot water. Germs can’t exist without moisture, so the parts will be fine once they are try. If you’re still concerned about germs, you can wipe the pieces with vinegar.) I like that the juicer comes with a 10-year warranty. I wrote the date of purchase, from whom I purchased the juicer, and the purchase order number on the warranty. The following day I reassembled the pieces. I washed and cut the fruit and vegetables to size. (I ended up cutting the fruits and vegetables smaller than necessary.) I made the juice recommended by Joe Cross of the “Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead” film : 2 granny smith apples, 6 leaves of kale, 4 celery stalks, 1 cucumber, ½ peeled lemon, and a piece of ginger root. ( I overdid it on the ginger.) The juice came out nicely and cleanly. The pulp was quite dry, meaning the juicer squeezed out most of the juice from the fruits and veggies. I was pleased with the quality of the juice. I have since made more juice with this juicer. After making juice, the juicer is easy to disassemble and clean. Included with the juicer is a Cleaning Brush that resembles an over-sized toothbrush, and it is very helpful. An additional green Cleaning Tool that fits over the strainer is included; however, I prefer to use the Cleaning Brush instead. The end of the Cleaning Brush is good for cleaning out the slot where the part called a “Compression Silicone” plug goes. (The Compression Silicone plug, which one unplugs for cleaning, is part of the Juicing Bowl. The Compression Silicone plug compresses the fibers from the juice.) The Kuvings NS-950 Silent Juicer consists of 12 total pieces: the 1. Base (with the motor), 2. Juicing Bowl (fits on top of the Base), 3. Rotation Wiper (fits inside the Juicing Bowl), 4. Strainer (fits into the Rotation Wiper), 5. Juicing Screw (fits inside the Strainer), 6. Drum Lid (screws onto the top of the Juicing Bowl, 7. Hopper (sits on top of the Drum Lid), 8. Pusher (a simple device used to push fruit or veggie pieces down the Drum Lid), 9. Juice Cup, 10. Pulp Cup, 11. Cleaning Brush, and 12. Cleaning Tool. I am still at the point where I have to read the directions and take my time when I assemble the juicer. For example, I have to be sure that the Juicing Screw clicks into place. There was also one time in which I had put the Drum Lid on crooked. The Drum Lid seemed to be stuck in the wrong position, and I panicked. Fortunately my husband helped unscrew it. Even when I screw the Drum Lid on properly, I often need a rubber “grip” to unscrew it. The juicer does not take very long to assemble, but you still don’t want to rush it. I bought this juicer because of the nutritional benefits of a masticating juicer (and the price was good). The quiet motor (not totally silent, but pleasantly quiet) is an added bonus. (By the way, I collect the leftover fiber, freeze it, and later add it to casseroles.) I have only had this juicer for about a month, but so far I am very pleased with it.

  • Excellent juicer!

Works just like it is advertised. I’ve used it about 10 times and it makes great juice. It did get stuck a few times when I was juicing carrots, but realized I was cutting them longer than 4-in and needed to cut them in half (like the directions tell you). Just reversed it for a second and it worked fine. For carrots, I’ve learned to keep them in water after I peal them while preparing them. I’ve done apples, peaches, and oranges and it worked flawlessly. This is the only juicer that I found that had 5 stars consistently and it works great.

  • Super Quite Juicer

I'm new to juicing and have only juiced with my husbands old juicer, which was extremely noisy and did not extract very well. If trying to juice with leafy vegetables, forget it. This juicy did great with kale, and no issues with carrots or bananas. The first time cleaning took a little while, but now it's so easy (maybe 5 min tops). There is a cleaner that fist the mesh strainer, and that works extremely well. It's a well built piece of kitchen equipment that will be enjoyed for many years. Yes, it is a little pricey but you won't regret the investment. I was able to purchase with a 10% discount from overstock on one of their sale promotion.

  • so far so good.

I have been juicing with cheap centrifuge juicers for a few years, just buying a new one when the current juicer stops working...I recently started researching online about getting a new juicer that actually works well and healthy....I went with this one, without any reviews, hoping that the newer, the better....just received my we had to use it! went into my garden and got a beet, some broccoli, some celery (the tough one), and dinosaur kale! everything went smoothly, minimal pulp, but lots of foam...we juice everyday, so this juicer will get lots of use and I needed the 10 year warranty both parts and labor. Great juicer! So far, so good...will post after some more wear
