    I bought these pans because I already had some, but the non-stick was getting pretty beat up after probably five years of daily use. I don't want to cook in aluminum, even with non-stick coating on it, and finding a stainless-steel nonstick pan is no easy feat. I found KitchenAid pans, and was thrilled with them. So I looked for them by name. Well, you can't go home again, as they say. KitchenAid made these pans lighter and smaller than they used to, the silicone on the handles is only on the bottom (used to be the whole grip), and they are not well balanced any more. My previous ones were very heavy, and sat well on the burner. These are enough lighter weight that they tip slighly toward the handle when they are empty. I often get a pan hot then drop in a thin breakfast steak, because this sears each side and keeps a cheap steak juicy. When the pan doesn't sit flat on the burner, it doesn't heat evenly, so you have to stand there holding the pan flat on the burner. Did they notice this when they designed the pans? Did they think it was a bug, or a feature? Did they care? I wish someone could make a manufacturer understand that people like me buy products because they work, and will keep going back to the same product if it keeps working. If prices go up, but they keep the same quality, that is ok by me. I'll save my money a little longer to afford the product, if it keeps working like it used to. But, KitchenAid made a mistake in my opinion, in the manufacture of these pans. They are not the same as the ones I must replace. They are light-weight (not as light as aluminum, don't misunderstand me), the coating seems less durable, and they don't sit flat on the burner. Tell me, what should a pan do? Sit flat on the burner, if nothing else. As to the coating? I am careful even with the coatings that supposedly can take a beating. I do not stack these pans inside each other - I have a rack that holds them separate from each other, on edge. I use silicone utensils in them, I wash and dry them by hand, and treat them well. My other Kitchenaid pans held up well until my special-needs son (who didn't understand the difference between metal and silicone utensils) roughed up the surface of the non-stick. Even then, I used them two more years before they were looking just too dodgy. I have used these pans about two weeks. As I was putting the small one away, I noticed four little nicks in the non-stick that weren't there a couple days ago. Whassupwiddat? Overall, I feel let down by KitchenAid. I will keep the pans (unless this non-stick really starts to disintegrate), and will tell people that I have found non-stick stainless steel if they are looking for them. But I'll also tell them the truth about the reduced quality of these pans. I rated the pans Good, because they are stainless, not aluminum. But I really feel more like they are Average. That disappoints me.
