This is a very heavy sink... almost 100 lbs. I was scared we would drop it or break it on install. I wasn't aware when I bought it that we had to re-fabricate the sink base cabinet for the sink. But once we found YouTube videos on building the support structure and how to change the sink base it was fine. Also, keep in mind, you have to get special size doors for your cabinet after the sink is installed. Make sure you do your homework on buying and installing a farmhouse sink. Other than that, very pleased.
I reviewed this earlier, but wanted to share info about installation. We used a 36 inch Ikea base cabinet for an apron sink, and had no issues other than cutting the area under the apron to fit. Also we thought we needed to add bracing or something more - it didn't seem supported. However, our countertop person said it is not necessary. Once the counter is installed, its not an issue.
we love this sink. its big, spacious, and is the perfect addition to our kitchen. we put it in with the beveled side towards the back and the blank side in the front and it is exactly what we were looking for. it seriously is a stunning farmhouse sink!
We are so happy with this Kraus 30-inch undermount stainless steel sink. Bought it back in Nov 2010, but didn't get installed or used until Jan 2011, due to construction delays. It is beautiful -- our contractor and others involved in the project commented on it. While shopping around, we thought it might be too deep, mounted under 1.5 inches of granite countertop. But paired with a high-arc faucet (Kleo by Moen), the depth really contains all spash. Every pan and serving tray can fit in this sink! What a luxury! Near-zero degree radius corners lend that professional look without being hard to clean -- the pull-down spray nozzle flushes debris back to the drain without a problem. It is high-quality, low-gauge stainless steel at a reasonable price, for the size of the bowl. Also loved that the sink grid is included -- would have been an extra purchase otherwise. This sink has a rear-positioned drainage opening -- check to be sure there is enough clearance between it and the rear wall of the cabinet opening to accommodate the garbage disposal, if using one. The packaging was impressive, as other reviewers have mentioned. And for a first-time overstock.com buyer, we found this was a really easy and satisfying place to shop, even for so big-ticket an item.
I love this sink. I purchased this product to go in our new kitchen and was looking for a deep wide sink. This is is perfect, the near zero radius really makes this sink a true center piece to our kitchen. Be aware however due to it's size and commercial quality you must use the brackets to attach it to the underneath of the counter and a 33 inch base is too small to accommodate the hardware. We had to cut down the sides of our base cabinet.
OK...this sink is a show stopper! I'm soooooo happy I saved myself money through Overstock! I was a little nervous about ordering something big like this online, but Overstock did not disappoint! I received this quickly and in perfect condition (they pack it well).
Some things to note:
You may have to have a special type of cabinet to accomodate this sink...so double check that before ordering!
You will probably have to build something to hold this sink up - lucky for me I already had my contractor on-site and he had put one of these farmhouse/apron sinks in his own place - so he went to town building the additional items needed to hold this sink in place! If you're cabinets are 36 inch...go with the 33 inch sink it's still huge and you'll save yourself the hassle of a potential return! Ours only had a little extra room in our 36 inch cabinet and to think I was almost ready to purchase the bigger sink!!!!!
Bottom line...GET THIS SINK! You will not be disappointed!!! We love it and so does everyone else that comes into our home! It's the next generation of kitchen style and you can't beat the overstock price!
Kraus Undermount Single Bowl Stainless Steel Kitchen Sink with Grid has been a hit at my house. This sink is 16 gauge T304 stainless steel, making it a higher grade than I thought I could afford. It has padding to reduce noise, and a condensation coating, so it met all my qulaity requirements. The box it arrived in was sturdy, and the contents beautifully packed; as a result, everything arrived in great shape. The price was significantly lower than what I found at big box stores or granite yards. The template was accurate. The grid and towel that came with the sink are high quality. The drain appeared to be good quality as well; I particularly liked the deep strainer basket with handle, that was part of the drain assembly, and was disappointed that I couldn't use that drain with a garbage disposer. With the sink having only one drain hole, and so many people owning garbage disposers, that particular drain is more of a marketing gimmick than anything. It would make sense for the manufacturer to offer the consumer a choice between that drain, or a quality garbage disposer friendly drain and stopper. Since the price for this sink, with grid, drain and towel, was significantly less than most comparable sinks alone, I felt the drain was not a major issue. This sink is 9" deep. It offers plenty of room for anything I need to do in the sink, and reduces splashes from the new pull-down faucet. The sink is easy to clean. While the squared corners on some sinks look very stylish, I preferred the rounded, easy to clean corners of this sink. What I find funny is every single guy who has seen our remodeled kitchen gravitates to the sink and enthuses over it. They like that they have room to move around and not bang anything. I must agree. Though I am small, and joked that I had to be careful not to lean over the sink too far or I might fall in, as I use it I love that I can wash and rinse large cutting boards and pans without the usual maneuvers you have to use when you have a double sink. I took a risk changing from a double sink to the single sink, but I do not regret it at all. If I ever have a need for two sinks I can use a dishpan. In summary, I find the quality, size and features of this sink are five stars. As a minor point, I would suggest the manufacturer provide the option of a drain that is garbage disposer compatible.
Ravati stainless steel sink - excellent quality is what I expected, and that is what we received! And all stainless steel. We have a 30" wide sink, and after more than a week of use, we love it even more. I did visit three big box stores, and researched online reviews regarding this sink and other higher end sinks but I believe for the price, you can't beat the quality, the looks, all stainless steel, and the functionality of this sink with the included stainless steel basket, and bottom tray (prevents scratches) We love it... I wish we would have bought this for our basement kitchen!
Our granite installer wanted $450.00 extra for an upgraded sink with 15 gauge stainless T304 steel, with strainer basket, and extra sound padding on the bottom. This sink was * with free shipping! Excellent value! Granite company even commented that this sink is pretty nice, and equivalent to theirs!
The sink is really great quality. We love the full size basin and the 9 1/2 inch depth. It's an Ariel, with 18 gauge steel, The drain is well made with the removable strainer basket (which has a handle) and a tight seal on the cover/plug. It's also really pretty. Just what we ordered.
First - a thumbs up for Overstock customer service. After receiving the sink, I stored it in the garage - we had started on plans to renovate the kitchen, but it was taking longer than expected. By the time I went to check on the sink to make sure all looked good - it was past 90 days (shame on me). And strangely, the logo on the cloth protective bag that the sink comes packaged in - had somehow bled/tarnished through on to the sink divider. The tarnish could not be rubbed off - and it was clear that it was an imprint from the package. In horror, I called Overstock - customer service handled it beautifully. I texted a picture of the issue and they gave me instructions on how to send back the sink so they could send a replacement. The new sink came without a glitch.
Installation was easy (or at least the countertop people did not run into any problems with it) - but then I realized that the countertop people didn't realize the bottom grates were in the box and they had come and left with the box. The countertop company could not retrieve the box (the installer had thrown it away at another project site - and it was unretrievable). So I called Ruvati directly. Ruvati does not sell the grates - they come only packaged with the sink set. But the rep. said if the warehouse had them in stock, they would send them to us. The next day they called and confirmed they were sending them to our house - no charge - not even for the shipping.
The sink itself is great. I love the squared corners with some radius so that they aren't impossible to clean. Everything is solid. Definitely make sure though that you have enough clearance from the backsplash to the front. Our faucet fixture was a pretty typical 2.5 inch diameter and there is JUST enough room for it to be set. If I had gone with 3cm Quartz backsplash vs. the 2cm Quartz backsplash (which I did debate endlessly on because it meant another slab), it would have not had enough room.
Most of all - Overstock and Ruvati had excellent customer service and have me sold.
We purchased this sink about two years ago and I was so impressed with the quality and look when it was installed. However, as a homeowner (and dishwasher!) I would want to point out two issues to those considering purchasing this sink. First, the remnants from the dirty dishes do not get washed easily from this particular sink, as the base is very even and care needs to be taken to wash all food particles from the four corners. Second, several spots on the sink started to show signs of wear (dark roundish discoloration) that would not come off with stainless steel cleaner or any other product I tried. That being said, I received a lot of compliments on the look of this sink, and in general I was quite pleased with it.
This sink is hands down the most superior in quality I have ever seen, installed or had the pleasure to use. I have been in the luxury and fine home-building industry for almost two decades and this sink is one of the best I have ever had the pleaseure to install. And, lucky me, I get to actually use this one on a daily basis in my own home! I have always been a stickler for a deep sink. But usually having a deep sink means that you get noise that could easily rival that of Niagara Falls when the faucet is running. Kraus knows that and solved that problem with their under-sink dampening system. THAT feature alone has me sold! The accessories Kraus included don't hurt either. But on to the most important "perk" that Kraus included..... The drain kit! Be still my beating heart... Why is this so important you ask? Keeping in mind that a large percentage of consumer end kitchen sinks do NOT come with a drain kit. This leaves the installer, contractor or even the occasional DIY'er with only a few options... Option 1: they call up the manufacturer of the sink they purchased, without a drain kit, and order one directly from them. Meanwhile, you wait for the manufactured to pack it up and ship it. Option 2: make a trip to a local home improvement store in the hopes you can find one that is going to match the specs of the sink you purchased, again without a drain kit. Option 3: in the case of replacing a preexisting sink with the new one you bought, without an included drain kit, the old drain kit is used. So, again, why is it an awesome and important feature for Kraus to include with their already amazing sink? Because 99% of the time a generic, 2nd party manufacturer or even an "authorized manufacturer" drain kit is not going to fit the drain opening exactly. "Who cares" You ask? You should care because the drain opening and the drain kit that go into should be, in my opinion, the "heart" of a sink. Especially for a one bowl/one-drain-opening sink. The quality, or lack thereof, of the seal can determine the longevity of the sink, cabinetry and everything below it. Having a perfect seal at the drain opening not only ensures that you will not have any leaks, it will also ensure that they integrity and strength of that sink is going to last beyond your lifetime. This sink and the included drain kit? PERFECTION! I know beyond any shadow of a doubt that I will never have to worry about the sink or what is below it! My rating.... 10 Stars for quality 10 Stars for value and price 10 stars for easy install
I love this sink! It's huge! Excellent quality, my favorite thing in my newly remodeled kitchen. Everyone who's seen it makes the comment of how huge this sink is. I love I can fit a whole tray from my daughters high chair in it flat. No more getting water everywhere trying to spray the tray off. If you are wanting to put in a farmhouse sink, DO IT! Best decision of our kitchen remodel.
I absolutely love this sink. unfortunately it took 3 shipments to get one that was not dented or damaged.
however overstock did a great job getting us one that was right
beautiful design and i love the built in cutting board . great price.
Big, deep beautiful sink that looks great undermounted in my dark grey granite. I don't hand wash dishes much, so wanted a big sink for soaking pots, pans and platters before going in the dishwasher. This sink is huge and, yet rinses and drains well because of the design. So big I could bath my 25 lb. dogs in here!
This sink is the best sink I've ever had. Looks great everybody loves it. I’ve never owned such a beautiful kitchen sink .I’m in love with this sink. Big Enough to wash a small kid or dog or ton of dishes
We have had this sink installed for over 2 months now and couldn't be happier. It is clean and modern and looks great in our newly renovated kitchen. We modified our existing kitchen cabinet to fit the sink and had new doors made for the cabinet. It truly looks custom and we get compliments on it from everyone that comes to our home. The sink is very deep which makes filling large pots easy. I am slightly taller than average so I can see if I were standing at the sink for hours at a time I may get a backache due to the depth but it hasn't been an issue thus far. Definitely read the manufacturers directions on cleaning the surface of the sink. It does say not to use a steel cleaning pad so I have been using a powder cleanser specifically made for stainless steel and it cleans up great with no scratches. I highly recommend this sink!
I can fit a giant wok, 8 quart pot, and some bowls and cups perfectly fine even wth some space to spare! Hit it by accident with some harder tools and sharp knives, no chips scratches or anything! best of all no water marks or stains!!!!!
I purchased this to replace a porcelain/cast iron Kohler sink, in Terracotta... A real estate agent friend of mine has been telling me to replace it with a SS sink for months.
Finally bit the bullet, and got this. Love the large single bowl, and the fact that it comes with the drain (with deep basket), and the bottom grid, and cutting board.
Great bang for the buck!
Well in this case, it’s a sink that will match my new matte black floor... even the countertop installer guys were in love with it. Plus I don’t see the dirt anymore... and if I can’t see it, it’s not there. My kitchen is looking fine.
It is a very beautiful sink! It's very deep, which is super nice with large, bulky dishes. One concern is that soap may leave marks if it is left sitting on the stainless steel. Otherwise, I love my purchase!
If you are looking for a deep kitchen sink of high quality then you found it! I love this because it is deep, comes with the drain and with the grate that lays inside the sink so you don't drop a glass or dish and break it easily. Kraus is an excellent brand and the price on Overstock.com is the cheapest of any website so don't bother wasting an hour, I did the work for you.
Kraus includes a black bag that comes with this which you put the sink in when your contractor or marble/granite/counter top person takes it with them and it doesn't get scratched up. Great idea, Kraus!!!
One thing to note, REMEMBER, this is a DEEP sink, so make sure you measure your cabinet underneath this to make sure you have enough depth below to put a garbage can if you want or pull out draw for supplies. I could not fit a garbage can because I had put a Insta Hot and Reverse Osmosis Water Treatment device which took up the hole cabinet.
I didn't realize just how deep the sink was until we installed it and had to replumb and remove the trash can slide out. It's a decent sink and I like the depth now that the extra work is done. It seems to water spot more than I expected, but it was worth the price.
