I'm not sure if I love this because it gives me so much more counter space which I needed in my NYC studio, or it is just really great. It says you need 2 people to put it together, but I did it myself in about an hour. It's not as sturdy as you might think, but that's not much of a problem for me. The door and drawer aren't the best construction, but in general it works great for the cost in my space.
We have recently retired and downsized, living in a studio apartment during summer months. This island was just the thing to add more counter and storage space and the color adds this beautiful punch of color in a place that you may not expect. My husband and I both love this cart.
I purchased 3 of these to create counter-space/storage in my man-cave (renovated detached garage). They are very well built, and I was especially impressed with the pre-fab process (pre-drilled holes, inlayed hardware, etc.)! Having put together a LOT of "assembly required" sticks of furniture, I must say, this was a shining light in the darkness compared to other pieces I've assembled. No glue and plenty of hardware (extras included just in case). It does take a while to put together, but it's a very reasonable experience with very decent instructions. The casters are high quality on the bottom make it easy to move around when your space needs change (for hosting events, or even just for the long term feng shui). Both of the front two casters lock, but just one locked is enough to stabilize the unit. The leaf is sturdy and a "made it all worth it" addition to the product. With the leaf up, a space is created behind the unit, in which you can tuck milk-crates, boxes, small appliances, trash receptacles, etc. I chose not to add the end-pieces on some of the units as to allow them to butt together and create a very long counter-top/work-bench space, and I must say, it has worked out better that I thought it would. I am considering buying a few more, one of which will replace a recording studio computer desk. I am planning to simply not insert the wooden backing panels behind the cabinet door so that the wires can escape and the computer will vent appropriately. Great product a little pricey at *** but worth it when you consider all the crap out there.
