I was so nervous to receive this item because I knew it had to be assembled and my boyfriend and I are not handy people, if you know what I mean. This dresser was easy to assembly and the finished product was study! Overall, we are very happy with our purchase. Assembly took approximately 3 hours. The directions were thorough and concise. I would definitely recommend this dresser!
I purchased this dresser with gift cards and a coupon, so it probably seems like way more of a steal than it actually is. That said, even at Overstock's "normal" (discounted) price, I think it's good quality for what you're paying. I've had other items from DaVinci/babyletto/Million Dollar Baby, so I kind of knew what to expect. First off, read the instructions!! I'm an Ikea pro and started assembling this piece with minimal glancing at the instructions, and definitely got myself into a pickle about 2/3 of the way through - had to disassemble 80% of what I had done - re-up my motivation and finish another day. But the end result is exactly what I wanted and expected! I love the dresser (I got it in white)!! Secondly - if you have a drill (with screwdriver bit) and a ratcheting Allen key, it will save you TONS of headache and carpal tunnel syndrome. I had the former, but not the latter. I did curse 7-29 times, but again - you get what you pay for. And I'm assuming a lot of the annoying ways the joints come together are that way to make it more secure and child-friendly (less things for tiny fingers to scrape on or clothing to snag on). Thirdly - definitely, DEFINITELY use the anti-tipping hardware.
Some of the pieces with cork came damaged and broken. Also, some of the screw holes didn't seem to be in the right place, and I couldn't get the top of the dresser to go down as it should with the wooden pegs.
