After researching a bunch of hairpin desks on Overstock & *** , I finally went with this one. I specifically wanted drawer space and a desk large enough for a desktop mac and a printer. The size of this desk is perfect. It's HEAVY, so if you live in a walkup apartment (like me), get some help to carry this. My biggest peeve with this desk is the drawers. They don't fit flush all the way into the space, despite me following directions to the T. If it wasn't so *** heavy to disassemble and pack, I'd send it back and order a different one.
More frustrated with the shipping than the desk itself; received a damaged desk that had been returned (previous RIM # was written on the damaged box); the time it took to exchange the damaged desk for a new one was a hassle. As other reviewers stated, the drawers are super shallow (the plastic clip keeps getting caught on my <1in. thick makeup brush bag), the desk isn't as glossy as you'd expect from looking at photos. For now it does the trick as a vanity and desk.
I wish I could post photos! Because I would. This desk is more gorgeous in person than the photo with the outdated TV haha. I can comfortably fit two monitors on the desk for my gaming and music needs. It's heavy and solid wood. The only veneer is the paneling on the inside of the hutch. I love that the bottom drawer locks and comes with keys, it also has metal brackets to hold files. The top drawer is lined with felt. The hutch doors slide to open and does not have brown on the top like the photo. it is solid white up there. There is room between the bottom of the hutch and desk for cables to go through. I think the only thing I don't like about the desk is that piece of wood that helps hold the desk together where you sit. it has the ugliest orange mark on it that does not come off. I thought about contacting customer service about it but it took so long to get the desk that I let it go. I picked this desk over the others for one reason, quality. Anyone who has owned partical board furniture and gets frustrated will definitely see a huge difference. This is something that outlives you, and it survived it's first move no problem. I got a good laugh out of the first review where they dropped it and it did fine. Heck that's what pushed me over to buy it. It's a good desk. Gorgeous and practical.
I actually bought this desk from another retailer where I found it cheaper (oops) but wanted to review here, where I found it. It's a solid, sturdy desk—and while it does take a couple of hours (1:45 for me) to set up, the instructions are surprisingly easy to figure out. The end result is a solid, not at all wobbly, professional-looking piece. It's perfect for my space.
