This is a large piece of furniture. Materials are nice. I can't comment on assembly as I took my toddlers out of the house so my husband and a friend could get these done without little hands "helping"... A few things to note: there is a gap of maybe three inches between the wall and the mattress. Description says trundle can fit a mattress of 8" depth HOWEVER - if the bed is on carpet, the frame will sink into the carpet more than the trundle - this means that I cannot slide the 8" trundle in and out - I actually had to lift the bed frame. I am solving this problem by purchasing bed risers of just about two inches so the trundle can slide easily. In trying to get the trundle out from under the bed, I was pulling on the front piece - not sure how sturdy that is, so don't tug too hard! Overall a very attractive bed.
If my son were rating this bed he'd give it one million billion INFINITY stars. However, a couple things for the adults out there- yes the stickers are a pain. You are trying to line up several large stickers in specific spots over curved plastic...I would recommend some deep breathing or wine before you start. I was very slow and meticulous about it and I still ended up with a few bubbles. Also, if you want the edges of the bed to be higher than the mattress (this is my little ones first big boy bed) you have to place the mattress directly on the floor - we couldn't even put a box spring under it without making the bed too high. We did purchase a mattress through Overstock that was very comfortable so it worked fine for me. My main reason for removing one star is that the inner lining of the bed is completely unfinished and unattractive- and it is exposed around the edge of the mattress. I wish the manufacturers had at least created a few inches of "finished" look around the inner edge of the bed. Overall we are very happy with the purchase!
I purchased this daybed to use in our guest room which is small and this bed is HUGE!! It's a beautiful piece though. A couple of things to note though, a normal twin is too small. There are several inches on the end of the mattress. You need at least a 10 in thick mattress to cover the gap in the back. With an 8" mattress, a child would fall through. Pillows will hide the gap, but it's not safe for sleeping - I recommend putting children on the trundle. The trundle slides easily even on carpet and slides completely away from the top bed. It can be placed on the other side of the room. When pushed under the bed, it fits perfectly. So far, we love it!
Let's be real, It's a daybed on Overstock.com that ships in a box. BUT, that said...It really looks great and was far less than other places I looked, and I was able to buy a roll out/pop up trundle w/7 inch mattress that fits great under it. Perfect in our Mtn Home basement.
