We bought 2 of these to furnish a guest room that we planned to use to house exchange students. We wanted them to have separate beds, but we also wanted the flexibility to make the beds into a king when we use the room for adult guests. These fit the bill. They were easy to put together and are fairly sturdy. Because the lip of the frame does come up over the mattress, we can easily push them together and use a connector set to make a king. No huge gap. The only down side is that the low lip allows the mattress to slide a bit when used as a twin. It's not a problem -- just something to be aware of.
I reaaly like this frame. It fits well with the other furnishings, and assembled is quite sturdy. It was easy to put together, and the result is a fine platform for a mattress. The height is nearly perfect, and I have enjoyed many nights of peaceful sleep with it.
But in fact, it's ivory. May not sound like a big deal but I'm furnishing an apartment in all white. Now this is the only piece that doesn't match and its too much of a hassle to return it. Really annoying..but the daybed is nice. Another downside you can't see in the picture is that the backboard of the daybed isn't solid. There's like a 5-6" gap from the backboard to the mattress (I put an 8" memory foam mattress). Not a huge deal but it needs to be covered with enough pillows for it to look alright. I'm annoyed because you can't see it on the picture and it's misleading. For the price however, it's fine I guess.
